Why can’t I have my teeth extracted during my period?

Women must pay attention to some taboos during menstruation. Tooth extraction is not allowed during menstruation. Even if some toothache occurs during menstruation, you must understand the correct treatment method and do not treat it by tooth extraction for the time being.

1. The best time to treat dental diseases: 8 to 14 days after menstruation is the best time for women to treat dental diseases, among which the 10th day after menstruation is the best. There is less bleeding and less pain after tooth extraction, the infection rate after surgery is low, and the wound heals quickly. Therefore, women should choose this time to treat dental diseases.

2. When is tooth extraction necessary?

1. Teeth with advanced periodontal disease that cannot be treated due to limited conditions.

2. Dental disease: Teeth with severe caries that cannot be repaired. However, if the root and peri-root conditions are good, a post crown or overdenture can be made after treatment without extraction.

3. Patients with periodontitis lesions that cannot be preserved by root canal treatment or other methods.

4. Traumatic teeth are fractured below the gums due to trauma, or have root fractures at the same time and cannot be saved by other treatment methods. The teeth on the fracture line should be retained as much as possible according to the specific situation.

5. Displaced or misplaced teeth should be extracted if they affect function and appearance, cause disease or trauma, etc.

6. Retained deciduous teeth should be extracted. However, if there are no permanent teeth below the deciduous teeth in the adult dentition or the permanent teeth are impacted, they do not need to be extracted if they are not loose and have function.

3. Notes

Prevent dental diseases during pregnancy and do not extract teeth in the first 3 months and last 3 months after pregnancy. Tooth extraction in early pregnancy can easily cause miscarriage, while tooth extraction in late pregnancy can easily induce premature birth. This is something that must be paid attention to.
