My labia is a little itchy, and it's caused by them

The labia are part of the vulva. If itching symptoms occur, it may be due to gynecological diseases such as candidal vaginitis and Trichomonas vaginitis; it may also be caused by chronic vulvar malnutrition, and the skin of the vulva will turn pale.

1. Causes

1. Special infections and bad hygiene habits (65%):

Candidal vaginitis and Trichomonas vaginitis are the most common causes of vulvar itching. Lice and scabies can also cause itching. Pinworm infection causes itching around the anus and vulva of young girls, which usually only occurs at night. Not paying attention to the local cleanliness of the vulva, sebum, sweat, menstruation, vaginal secretions, and even urine and feces can cause itching due to long-term stimulation of the vulva: using rubber or plastic menstrual belts during menstruation and wearing non-breathable chemical fiber underwear at other times can induce itching due to the accumulation of damp heat.

2. Systemic causes (10%):

(1) Diabetes: Due to the irritation of diabetes to the vulvar skin, especially when accompanied by fungal vulvitis, vulvar itching is particularly severe. Many patients first seek medical treatment due to itching and redness of the vulva, and are only diagnosed with diabetes after further examination. (ii) When patients with chronic diseases such as jaundice, vitamin A and B deficiency, anemia, leukemia, etc. experience vulvar itching, it is often part of general itching. (3) Vulvar congestion during pregnancy and premenstrual period may occasionally cause vulvar itching and discomfort. (IV) Unexplained vulvar pruritus Some patients have very severe vulvar pruritus, but no obvious systemic or local cause can be found. Some people currently believe that it may be related to mental or psychological factors.

3. Others (10%):

1. Chronic vulvar malnutrition, with severe itching as the main symptom, accompanied by whitening of the vulvar skin.

2. Drug allergy or chemical irritation Soap, condoms, Sanisol, mercurochrome, etc. can cause contact dermatitis due to direct irritation or allergy, resulting in itching symptoms.

3. Other skin lesions, abrasions, common warts, herpes, eczema, and tumors can all cause vulvar itching.

2. Prevention

1. Pay attention to menstrual hygiene, change menstrual pads frequently and wash them frequently during menstruation.

2. Keep the vulva clean and dry, do not wash it with hot water or scrub it with soap.

3. Avoid indiscriminate use, abuse of drugs, scratching and local friction.

4. Avoid alcohol, spicy food, seafood, and medicines that may cause allergies.

5. Do not wear tight crotch pants. Underwear should be loose, breathable, and preferably made of cotton.

6. If there is local damage or infection, you can use 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution (add a small amount of potassium permanganate powder to warm water to make it light red, not too concentrated) to soak and wash twice a day, each time for 20 to 30 minutes. It is best to see a doctor and follow the doctor's advice.

7. See a doctor to check whether there is fungus or trichomonas. If so, seek timely treatment instead of using "anti-itching water" to treat it yourself.

8. Patients who fail to recover after long-term treatment should have their blood sugar checked.

If the itching symptoms are severe and accompanied by abnormal leucorrhea, abdominal pain and other symptoms, it is very likely an inflammatory infection. You need to go to the hospital's gynecology department for relevant examinations and targeted treatment in time.
