What are the symptoms of varicose veins of the perineum?

Varicose veins of the perineum can have a lot of impact on women, and sometimes can hinder their childbirth. Therefore, it is important to understand whether you are affected by it. Usually, you should be alert if you feel swelling in the vulva or lower limbs, or pain in the vulva.

1. Varicose veins of the vulva: The vulva and lower limbs feel swollen, and the local skin becomes red. The vulva hurts when walking, and the longer you stand, the more uncomfortable you feel. If symptoms do not improve after rest, seek medical attention immediately.

2. There will be mild varicose veins after pregnancy, but it will not affect vaginal delivery. Severe varicose veins will affect vaginal delivery. It will cause heavy bleeding after delivery and poor wound healing after perineal damage. This is a common phenomenon for expectant mothers, so please don't be too anxious. In the second half of pregnancy, with the rapid growth of the fetus, the blood supply increases, the enlarged uterus presses on the pelvic veins, affecting blood reflux; the estrogen level in the expectant mother's body increases, and the venous wall relaxes, which can easily cause varicose veins in the expectant mother's vulva and inner thighs. Plenty of rest and local care are the best remedies for treating vulvar varicose veins.

3. Expectant mothers should not stand or walk for a long time on weekdays. It is best to lie down and rest for 1 hour at noon every day. Sexual intercourse should not be allowed in the late pregnancy until two months after giving birth. Expectant mothers' clothes and shoes and socks should be loose to avoid hindering blood circulation. You can wash the vulva with warm water before going to bed every day, and then apply local cold compresses after a while (you can also use zinc oxide ointment or prickly heat powder) to promote venous blood reflux. Although vulvar varicose veins during pregnancy will gradually worsen with the arrival of childbirth, they can be fully recovered after childbirth.
