Is induced abortion harmful to the body?

The harm caused by induced abortion is very serious, so female friends should pay attention to their physical health before getting pregnant and have regular prenatal checkups during pregnancy, because induced abortion can easily cause heavy bleeding, and if infection occurs after the operation, it can also pose a great threat to life.

1. Bleeding after induced labor: Bleeding after induced labor is one of the most common hazards of induced labor. When the amount of bleeding after the fetus is delivered reaches more than 400 ml, we usually call it mid-term post-induction bleeding. If there is a large amount of bleeding in a short period of time, the patient will go into shock and his life will be in danger. Therefore, if patients have the conditions, they should be admitted to a better hospital and, if necessary, seek consultation and treatment from relevant departments to avoid postpartum hemorrhage.

2. Surgical infection: If the patient develops fever and the body temperature is as high as 38°C or above during the induced abortion operation or within half a month of induced abortion, especially if the high fever persists for more than a day after induced abortion and is accompanied by chills, this is a concurrent infection defined in medicine. When infection occurs, the patient may experience persistent lower abdominal pain, or a drop in blood pressure, and symptoms such as abdominal refusal to press and tenderness and rebound pain.

3. Birth canal injury: During the induction of labor, the uterus contracts strongly, resulting in a small cervical opening and poor elasticity, so it is easy for the birth canal to be injured, such as posterior fornix, cervical opening lacerations and vaginal lacerations. At this time, the laceration site should be clearly exposed and sutured immediately to stop the bleeding, otherwise it will cause more harm in the future.

4. Uterine rupture: The cause of uterine rupture may be that the fetal position is not clear before induction of labor or fetal malformations, such as hydrocephalus, conjoined twins, etc., which causes the fetus to be obstructed from descending during delivery, but cannot be delivered from the vagina, thus causing uterine rupture. In addition, it may also be due to the abuse of excessive doses of oxytocin during the induction operation, which causes strong contractions of the uterus, making it impossible for the cervix to expand and causing uterine rupture.

5. Amniotic fluid embolism: The biggest harm of induced labor to women is probably amniotic fluid embolism. When a patient has amniotic fluid embolism, he or she may experience cold sweats, chills, vomiting, coughing, cyanosis of the face, difficulty breathing, and even convulsions. If not treated in time, the patient will suffer from severe vaginal bleeding, which will endanger his life.
