What is a breast abscess? Medical experts are here to tell you!

Breast abscess is also called breast abscess. Simply put, it means that the breast is infected. However, because women's breasts are more sensitive and prone to various diseases, it is necessary to know the correct examination methods for breast abscesses and understand the symptoms of this disease.

What is a breast abscess?

When the infectious agent invades the breast tissue through the nipple and causes infection in the milk duct, a purulent tissue infection area is formed, which is a breast abscess.

2. Symptoms of breast abscess

Although breast abscess is a common disease, many people do not know what the symptoms of breast abscess are.

1. If mastitis is not treated actively, the patient may suffer from high fever, chills, obvious breast swelling and pain, local skin redness and swelling, nodules and tenderness, and enlarged and tender lymph nodes under the affected side. The inflammation softens within a few days, forming a breast abscess with a sense of fluctuation. The skin deep in the abscess is red and the fluctuation is not obvious.

2. If improper treatment is received in an irregular hospital, the harm will be even greater. The abscess may penetrate the loose connective tissue in front of the pectoralis major fascia, forming a retromammary abscess; or milk may overflow from the wound and form milk leakage; in severe cases, sepsis may occur.

3. When suffering from breast abscess, the patient will experience symptoms of breast swelling and pain in the early stage of the disease, and will also experience redness, swelling and fever. If the condition is severe, throbbing breast pain may occur.

3. Breast abscess examination

1. Breast ultrasound examination

This can help women detect abnormal growth of breast tissue and eliminate breast diseases.

2. Mammography

This examination is performed by clamping the breast on the support plate of the molybdenum target machine to fix the breast and obtain a clear image. It can detect some tiny tumor buds that cannot be felt by hand. If such examinations are carried out every year, the patient mortality rate can be reduced to 30% to 40%.
