Why is blood pressure highest in the morning? What is the normal range of blood pressure in the morning?

Blood pressure is a basic indicator of our health. Because blood flows in the blood vessels in the body, blood pressure is generated. Generally speaking, people's blood pressure is different in different blood vessels and at different times of the day. So why is blood pressure the highest in the morning? What is the normal range of blood pressure in the morning?

Why is blood pressure highest in the morning?

For most of us, blood pressure in the early morning is actually the highest during the day. This is mainly because the nerves and hormones that cause blood pressure and heart rate to increase begin to rise in the early morning, such as adrenaline, norepinephrine, dopamine and other catecholamine hormones. This is a normal physiological phenomenon, which we call "dipper-shaped blood pressure."

However, for patients with hypertension, high blood pressure in the early morning is often the most dangerous time period for cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

What is the normal range of blood pressure in the morning?

The following three measurement methods can meet the criteria of morning hypertension and are called morning hypertension:

Home blood pressure monitoring: Morning blood pressure ≥135/85 mmHg

Dynamic blood pressure monitoring: morning blood pressure ≥135/85 mmHg

Clinic blood pressure, that is, blood pressure measured by medical staff ≥ 140/90 mmHg

Note: Avoid strenuous exercise half an hour before measuring blood pressure, and rest for the first 5 minutes. When measuring, measure blood pressure 2-3 times and take the average value, one hour after getting up, before taking medicine, before breakfast, and after urinating. Dynamic blood pressure monitoring is usually done between 6 and 10 in the morning.

How to control blood pressure in daily life

1. Control salt intake, especially for people over 50 years old, who are more sensitive to salt. If they consume too much salt, it may even change the rhythm of blood pressure, which is high during the day and low at night. This will greatly increase the risk of inducing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, so salt control comes first.

2. Maintain a healthy weight and control total energy intake.

3. Quit eating smoked, pickled foods, fried foods, etc.

3. Eat out less often. If you eat out, rinse the food in boiling water before eating.

4. Drink enough water, 1500-1700ml per day.

5. Eat 500g of fresh vegetables every day, of which green leafy vegetables should account for more than half.

6. Exercise moderately every day, at least 1 hour, but be careful to avoid holding your breath and squeezing exercises.

7. Eat about 100g of soy products every day.

8. Do not eat fatty meat, eat about 1 liang of lean meat and 1 liang of seafood every day, plus an egg and a glass of milk.

9. Keep a happy mood.

10. Keep warm.
