The seriousness of ectopic pregnancy, I didn't expect the impact to be so great

Although the probability of ectopic pregnancy is very low, once it occurs it can cause great harm. For example, it can easily lead to intra-abdominal bleeding. The patient will feel severe pain. Ectopic pregnancy can also lead to infertility and may even result in death.

1. Syncope and shock. Due to acute bleeding in the abdominal cavity, the blood volume in the circulatory system decreases rapidly, coupled with severe abdominal pain. Mild cases may cause fainting, while severe cases may become pale, have cold limbs, a rapid and weak pulse, and a drop in blood pressure. This is medically known as "shock".

2. Another ectopic pregnancy: According to a survey, among women who have had an ectopic pregnancy, 10% to 15% will have another ectopic pregnancy, and 50% may become infertile. This means that after one fallopian tube is removed due to ectopic pregnancy, there is still a possibility of ectopic pregnancy occurring again in the contralateral fallopian tube. Therefore, for women with a history of ectopic pregnancy, if they become pregnant again, it is best to have an ultrasound examination 50 days after pregnancy. Based on the position of the gestational sac and fetal heart beat, it can be determined whether it is an intrauterine pregnancy or an ectopic pregnancy, so as to eliminate hidden dangers early.

3. Infertility caused by ectopic pregnancy: Ectopic pregnancy can cause infertility, but for most women, infertility is not caused directly, but indirectly. For example, blockage of the fallopian tubes causes ectopic pregnancy in women, making women infertile, and if this continues for a long time, it will cause menstrual disorders in women.

4. Life-threatening: About 1/3 of patients with ectopic pregnancy are in a state of pre-shock or shock when admitted to the hospital. The severity of the shock depends on the amount of internal bleeding and the rate of blood loss, which is not proportional to the amount of vaginal bleeding. Once ruptured, massive intra-abdominal bleeding will occur in a very short period of time, and without prompt rescue, it will be life-threatening.

5. Menopause

Most patients with ectopic pregnancy will have a short history of amenorrhea before the occurrence of ectopic pregnancy, and will also have some early pregnancy reactions, such as nausea, vomiting, etc., and the pregnancy test will also be positive.

6. Vaginal bleeding

After the embryo dies outside the uterus, there will often be some very irregular vaginal bleeding, which is basically in the form of drips, dark brown in color, and very small in amount, generally not exceeding the amount of menstruation, and is not clean.

7. Abdominal pain

The incidence of abdominal pain in patients with ectopic pregnancy is 95%. The abdominal pain is mainly caused by various reasons such as fallopian tube enlargement, rupture, and blood irritation to the peritoneum. Generally, there is sudden tearing or paroxysmal pain on one side of the lower abdomen, and symptoms of nausea and vomiting may also occur.
