Can you drink milk during confinement? Three major precautions

Can I drink milk during confinement? Milk is a healthy food ingredient and theoretically mothers should be able to drink it. However, because milk is a food that is not easy to digest, the intestinal function of mothers has not fully recovered to a certain extent. Therefore, it is best for mothers who have just given birth not to start drinking milk immediately. So, from a health perspective, there are three major things to pay attention to.

1. Can I drink milk during confinement?

The answer to this question is yes. In fact, mothers can drink milk, but they should be aware that milk is a food that is not easy to digest. After giving birth, the mother’s intestinal function has not fully recovered. If she drinks milk, it may cause gastrointestinal bloating, causing physical discomfort to the mother, and may also cause constipation due to bloating. After giving birth, because the intestinal function has not yet returned to normal, and the influence of postpartum estrogen and progesterone, the mother may be depressed or have other worries and anxieties, and be under great pressure. It is easy to get constipated at this time. If she drinks milk, it may make the constipation worse.

2. Pregnant women should pay attention to the following three issues when drinking milk

1. Milk does not have to be boiled before drinking. Because milk sterilization does not require too high a temperature, if the milk is boiled before drinking, the calcium contained in the milk will precipitate, thus affecting the nutritional value of the milk.

2. Don’t drink milk that is too cold. Milk must be heated before drinking. The mother's body has not yet fully recovered, so it is not suitable to eat cold food, and cold milk is a taboo, because drinking cold milk may cause diarrhea, which will affect the pregnant woman's physical recovery and the body's absorption of nutrients in the milk.

3. Do not consume milk and oranges together. Everyone may know this, because eating oranges and milk together will form coagulation, which will affect the body's absorption of milk. Milk should not be eaten with chocolate, otherwise it will lead to the absorption of calcium in the milk.
