What is a breast abscess? Come learn professional knowledge

The term breast abscess may be heard frequently, but not many people really understand this disease. Some sources of infection can enter the breast tissue through the female nipple, thereby infecting the breast, and an infected area appears in the breast. This is the so-called breast abscess.

1. What is a breast abscess?

When the infectious agent invades the breast tissue through the nipple and causes infection in the milk duct, a purulent tissue infection area is formed, which is a breast abscess. 1. Mothers who breastfeed their children should keep their nipples clean and dry between breastfeeding sessions, prevent nipples from being irritated by clothing, and prevent children from "biting" their nipples. This will reduce the incidence of breast abscesses. 2. Do not breastfeed from the breast with the lump until the infection is gone. The axillary lymph nodes on the affected side of mastitis are often swollen and tender.

2. Treatment follows the following principles

(I) General treatment: Stop breastfeeding in the affected breast and use a breast pump to remove all the milk; hot compresses or physical therapy can help dissipate early inflammation.

(ii) For local application, use 25% MgSO4 wet compress or the Chinese medicine dandelion for external application.

(III) Systemic antibiotics: Effective drugs against Gram-positive cocci, such as penicillin, cephalosporin, etc.

4. Timely incision and drainage after abscess formation

Symptoms

As the infection multiplies, a red, tender lump will form in the breast, and the axillary glands and supraclavicular lymph nodes on the affected breast will also become tender and feverish. Women who breastfeed their babies are more likely to develop this disease.

4. Diet therapy

1. 30 grams of dried day lily and 200 grams of lean pork. Wash the day lily and stew it with pork, add a little salt and make it a lighter dish. It is suitable for acute inflammatory pain and has the effect of clearing heat and reducing inflammation.

2. 100 grams of fresh daylily root and 2 pig’s trotters. Wash the vegetable roots, put them into the pot together with the pig's trotters, and cook them. Eat them lightly. Suitable for early-stage mastitis and milk obstruction.

3. 1 pig's trotter, 25 grams of astragalus, stew until cooked and eat without any seasoning, once a day. Used for early stage mastitis before pus forms.

4. 1 baby pigeon, 30 grams of astragalus, 30 grams of wolfberry. Wash the baby pigeon, wrap the astragalus and wolfberry in gauze and stew them with the baby pigeon. After they are cooked, remove the residue and eat the pigeon meat and drink the soup. Used in the recovery period after mastitis rupture.

5. 100 grams of japonica rice and 50 grams of dandelion. Boil dandelion in water to extract the juice, add rice to cook porridge, and take it in divided doses daily. It is used for patients with mastitis who have residual heat after the pus has been cleared.

6. Mix 60 grams of Glauber's salt and an appropriate amount of honey into a paste and apply it on the affected breast once a day for 3 to 5 days.

7. 20 green onions, 1 egg white, 15 grams of white sugar. Mash the white part of the scallion, add honey and sugar, heat and melt it, then apply it to the affected breast while it is still hot, making sure not to burn the skin. Use it for several days.

8. Grind 30 grams of gallnut into powder, add appropriate amount of vinegar, mix into a paste, apply to the affected breast, fix with gauze, once a day.
