What can pregnant women eat after giving birth? Pay attention to your diet

We all know that pregnant women have a very hard time during the delivery process. Not only do they have to endure great pain, but they also have to consume a lot of energy. Therefore, the postpartum nutrition of pregnant women has become an issue that many women are very concerned about. So what can pregnant women eat to supplement nutrition after delivery? Let’s take a look at it below.

The first stage (within 3-5 days after delivery): During this stage, the mother's body is relatively weak, so she should eat more foods that replenish qi and blood, such as eggs, millet, noodles, and a small amount of brown sugar. These seemingly light foods are actually more beneficial to the mother than those greasy foods. Blindly pursuing milk production and consuming a lot of greasy foods will make the mother very uncomfortable. In addition, you can eat some animal kidneys to prevent back pain, and eat some animal livers to clear lochia as soon as possible. However, this depends on the individual, after all, it is a bit greasy.

The second stage (5-7 days after delivery): During this stage, the physical condition of mothers who have given birth naturally has recovered significantly. They can basically eat relatively greasy food, and they also have a more obvious demand for these things. At this time, they can relax a little and eat some chicken soup, crucian carp soup, bone soup, hoof soup (pig, lamb, beef, etc.). These soups are rich in protein, easily absorbed by the mother, and can make the breasts enter the lactation state better. Start eating egg fermented glutinous rice soup after about a week to speed up the replenishment of qi and blood. You can also add some wolfberries. Eat it every day and the effect will be better. During this stage, women who have undergone cesarean section should continue to maintain the diet described in the first stage.

The third stage (7-30 days after delivery): During this stage, you can eat some greasy food while maintaining the diet of the previous two stages, but be careful to exclude cold, spicy, and irritating foods. In order to supplement vitamins and relieve constipation, you can eat some fruits, but they must be fresh. Do not eat them out of the refrigerator. It is recommended to eat apples, oranges, and bananas. Blanch them in hot water for a while before eating (do not boil them), which is good for the stomach.

The fourth stage (30-60 days after delivery): At this stage, the baby is already one month old and the mother’s physical condition has basically recovered. The main focus in diet is nutritional balance. On the basis of maintaining the diet of the previous stages, in order to ensure sufficient and high-quality milk for the child, the mother can eat some lean meat in the diet to increase nutrition. The meat should mainly be beef, mutton, chicken, and fish, and eat less pork because pork is cold in nature. Recommended dishes here include peanut, rice and wolfberry porridge, carp meat porridge, oxtail soup, beef brisket stewed with chrysanthemum, black-bone chicken stewed in clear soup, and old hen stewed with yam.
