What are the causes of adnexitis? You should know these factors

Adnexitis is a common gynecological inflammation, which refers to the inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries. Married women with children are at a high risk of developing adnexitis. Multiple abortions, lack of attention to menstrual hygiene, intrauterine devices, etc. can all cause adnexitis.

1. Causes of adnexitis

(1) When inflammation occurs in the pelvic cavity or organs adjacent to the fallopian tube, such as appendicitis, it can spread directly to cause salpingo-oophoritis and pelvic peritonitis. The inflammation usually occurs in the adjacent fallopian tube and ovary.

(2) With the widespread use of intrauterine devices, patients may not pay attention to personal hygiene or the surgical procedure may not be strict, which may cause the disease.

(3) Uterine cavity operations performed without strict disinfection, such as vacuum extraction, hysterosalpingography, cervical canal treatment, and obstetric surgery infections without strict disinfection.

(4) Not paying attention to menstrual hygiene, having sexual intercourse during menstruation or having unclean sexual intercourse, etc.

(5) If there is an infection in other parts of the body and it is not treated promptly, the pathogens can spread through the bloodstream and cause salpingo-oophoritis, which is more common in tuberculosis diseases.

2. Prevention of adnexitis

Active and thorough treatment of acute salpingo-oophoritis and pelvic peritonitis is the key to preventing the occurrence of this disease.

If you are already ill, treatment must be persistent to prevent the disease from prolonging and becoming difficult to cure. You should pay attention to personal hygiene and menstrual hygiene to prevent chronic infection. Larger hydrosalpinx or tubo-ovarian cysts caused by inflammation can be treated surgically. For those who are infertile due to fallopian tube obstruction, fallopian tube repair surgery can be performed. For recurrent acute attacks of chronic salpingo-oophoritis and pelvic peritonitis, when drug treatment is not ideal and the patient is older, surgical treatment can also be considered. In addition, since the disease is stubborn and can recur, it often puts a heavy mental burden on patients, so you must also build confidence, keep a good mood, exercise actively, and strengthen your physical fitness to improve your disease resistance.
