What does uterine bleeding mean? What are the causes of uterine bleeding?

In daily life, many women experience non-menstrual uterine bleeding. At first, it is often thought to be caused by early menstruation, but when it does not stop for a long time, women begin to worry and have to go to the hospital for a physical examination. However, after the examination, the doctor will tell them that it is caused by metrorrhagia. But most women don’t know what metrorrhagia is. In fact, metrorrhagia refers to the phenomenon of uterine bleeding in women during non-menstrual period.

Metrorrhagia as referred to in traditional medicine refers to vaginal bleeding in women outside of their menstrual period. The specific manifestations are menstrual cycle disorders and large changes in menstrual blood volume. Generally speaking, bleeding that flows like a fountain is called "uterine bleeding" and bleeding that is dripping is called "leakage". Theoretically, women may experience metrorrhagia within several decades from the onset of menstruation to menopause, but the incidence is highest during adolescence and menopause. This disease poses a great threat to women's health and may even cause infertility.

Causes of metrorrhagia

From the perspective of modern medicine, bleeding caused by functional uterine bleeding, gynecological inflammation or tumors can be called "menorrhea". According to the view of traditional Chinese medicine, metrorrhagia is caused by excessive physical fatigue, great psychological pressure, or unscientific eating or sexual intercourse. Specifically, there are the following reasons:

1. Blood heat: caused by excessive internal heat in the body or a bad mood.

2. Qi stagnation and blood stasis: Poor liver function causes Qi and blood to stagnate in the body, making it impossible for blood to circulate normally. The massive outflow of menstrual blood cannot be stopped, and at the same time, there is no return of fresh blood to replenish it.

3. Sudden metrorrhagia: Long-term physical bleeding causes the internal organs to be in a state of severe weakness.

4. Deficiency of both Qi and blood: This is caused by long-term excessive metrorrhagia and bleeding. Excessive blood flow will seriously damage the Qi and make the body very weak.

5. Deficiency of both spleen and kidney: The spleen, stomach and kidneys are very weak due to unscientific diet or excessive fatigue.

6. Liver and kidney yin deficiency: Excessive blood loss weakens the liver and kidneys, and the body’s vitality is severely damaged.
