When is the best time to check for uterine fibroids?

Patients with uterine fibroids do not have to be examined at a certain time, but if there is any abnormality in the body, they should pay attention to the examination. Ultrasound examination, uterine cavity detection examination, and X-ray examination are all methods of examining uterine fibroids.

First, ultrasound examination

The most widely used method in clinical practice today is to use ultrasound equipment to examine the enlargement and irregular shape of the uterus; the number, location, size of the fibroids, and whether the fibroids are uniform or liquefied and cystic; and whether there is any compression of other organs around them. The harder the fibroid, the more severe the attenuation. Benign attenuation is more obvious than malignant one. As the fibroid degenerates, acoustic penetration increases. During malignant transformation, the necrotic area increases in size and the echoes inside it become disordered.

Second, detect the uterine cavity

It mainly uses some instruments in clinical practice to use probes to measure the uterine cavity. Intramural fibroids or submucosal fibroids often cause the uterine cavity to enlarge and deform, which is of real significance for determining the nature of the tumor mass and the location of occurrence. However, it must be noted that the uterine cavity is often tortuous, or blocked by submucosal fibroids, so that the probe cannot be fully inserted, or if it is a subserosal fibroid, the uterine cavity often does not increase in size, but instead causes misdiagnosis.

Third, X-ray

X-ray is a type of examination that can be performed in hospitals of all sizes. It is mainly used when the patient has symptoms of uterine fibroid calcification, which appears as scattered consistent spots, or a shell-like calcified capsule, or a honeycomb with rough and wavy edges.
