What is the situation when the car water tank is not hot and the engine is overheated? What should I do if the car water temperature suddenly rises?

The main function of the car radiator is to dissipate heat from the engine to prevent the engine temperature from being too high. It is the main component of the car cooling system. If the engine is overheated, but the water sprayed out of the radiator is still cold, it means that there is a problem with the coolant circulation.

What is the situation when the car radiator is not hot and the engine is overheated?

1. The water pump does not work

A common water pump failure is a loose connection shaft. At this time, the water pump pulley can rotate but the drive shaft slips and cannot drive the impeller. Another is that the water pump impeller is damaged.

2. Thermostat cannot be opened

The thermostat is located at the water outlet of the engine cooling system. Its function is to maintain the engine temperature and avoid unnecessary circulation of the coolant to avoid wasting heat. When the engine water temperature is not high, the thermostat is closed and the coolant only circulates inside the engine. At this time, the engine heat loss can be avoided and the thermal efficiency can be improved. When the temperature of the coolant inside the engine is too high, the solid wax inside the thermostat begins to melt. After melting, the volume of the wax increases, pushing the thermostat to open, and the coolant begins to circulate through the radiator. When the thermostat is damaged and cannot be opened, the high-temperature coolant accumulates inside the engine, and the external coolant naturally has no temperature.

3. There is air in the cooling system

This is the most common fault, because when air appears in the cooling system, the power of the water pump cannot be transmitted here, and the entire cooling system cannot circulate normally. However, this fault is also easy to solve. There is an air vent screw at the highest point of the engine cooling system. After unscrewing the air vent screw, run the engine and add coolant at the same time until coolant flows out of the air vent screw hole evenly, indicating that the exhaust is complete.

What should I do if the car water temperature suddenly rises?

There are generally several reasons for the water temperature to be too high: the first is due to lack of coolant. This situation is easy to solve. When adding coolant, be careful not to open the hood immediately after parking the car, because the pressure inside the engine compartment is too high and burns are easy to occur.

Another possible reason is that the water tank is too dirty and not cleaned. If the pores of the heat sink of the water tank are blocked by dirt, it is easy to cause poor heat dissipation.

In addition, damage to the thermostat, damage to the electric fan, damage to the water pump, ruptured water pipes, etc. may also cause the water temperature to be too high.

If you see the water temperature warning light, pull over and open the hood, but be sure not to try to repair it yourself as this can easily cause you to get hurt.

Does the car's water tank need to be filled?

Generally, cars have a spare pot, also called an expansion pot! There is a scale on it, just add it between MIN and MAX. The antifreeze in the water tank is generally replaced every two years and 40,000 kilometers, about 5 liters each time.

Different engine displacements and water tank sizes require different amounts of antifreeze. Generally, 7 to 8 liters of antifreeze are added to a 2.0 engine after an overhaul. If the antifreeze is replaced, the amount of antifreeze added will be less because the internal waterways of the engine are complex and the cooling circulation system cannot be completely drained.
