Can I wear high heels when I’m pregnant? Beware of back pain

Many women have the habit of wearing high heels, but here we would like to remind all women that it is best to put away the high heels after pregnancy and choose soft and comfortable flat shoes instead, because wearing high heels after pregnancy will bring many adverse effects.

1. After a woman becomes pregnant, her belly grows bigger day by day, her weight increases, and the center of gravity of her body moves forward, which not only increases the burden on the waist and back muscles and feet when standing or walking, but also makes the body unstable.

2. In addition, the venous return of the lower limbs of pregnant women is often affected by pregnancy. When standing for too long or walking far, the feet often have varying degrees of swelling. At this time, wearing high heels is not conducive to the blood circulation of the lower limbs due to the hard soles and uppers of the shoes. The feet already have varying degrees of edema, which makes the edema of the lower limbs of pregnant women more serious.

3. When pregnant women wear high heels, in order to maintain body balance during walking, they will consciously move their lumbar spine forward and their thoracic spine backward, which increases the curvature of the spine. They often feel tired and their back pain is aggravated, which is not good for their health.

4. When pregnant women wear high heels, it is easy for the uterus to fall and the bladder to be compressed. Over time, it can also cause frequent urination and postpartum uterine prolapse, causing the pelvis to tilt, which is not conducive to future delivery.

5. When pregnant women wear high heels, too much weight of the whole body will be concentrated on the soles of the feet, causing excessive dorsiflexion of the toe joints. Over time, the shape of the feet will easily change. In severe cases, flat feet may develop.

6. If pregnant women wear high heels, due to endocrine changes, the bones throughout the body will have varying degrees of osteoporosis, seriously endangering the health of various parts of the body.

7. From the perspective of maternal health care, the key point for pregnant women to wear shoes is safety. Experts have found in their research that for many pregnant women, the area below the big toe begins to swell up three months into their pregnancy, and by six months their entire foot becomes swollen like they have flat feet.
