What to do with shoulder pain after childbirth? Treatment based on the cause

Shoulder muscle spasms, cervical spondylosis and periarthritis of the shoulder are all causes of shoulder pain after childbirth. If a female friend experiences shoulder pain after childbirth, she must seek treatment as soon as possible to avoid the root of the disease.

1. Shoulder muscle spasms: The causes of muscle spasms are - local cold, long-term work with the head down, long-term computer operation, incorrect sitting posture, etc. Because of maintaining a certain posture for a long time, the muscles are always in a tense state, which can easily cause shoulder pain.

2. Cervical spondylosis - can cause shoulder pain , known as cervical shoulder syndrome. Common symptoms are cervical nerve root compression. The pain is usually not too severe and may be accompanied by numbness and weakness of the limbs, but the joint function is not obviously limited. Examination shows the presence of cervical spondylosis.

3. Periarthritis of the shoulder : The shoulder joint is the joint with the largest range of motion in the human body. Degenerative changes occur with age, and because the shoulder joint moves frequently in daily life, it is prone to chronic strain and periarthritis of the shoulder. In the acute stage of frozen shoulder, shoulder joint pain is the main symptom. The symptoms are often lighter during the day and heavier at night. At the same time, there are different degrees of joint dysfunction, especially in the adhesion period or recovery period, which often affects daily life, such as lifting objects, eating, dressing, washing face and combing hair. Cervical spine X-rays can be taken. First, cervical bone hyperplasia should be excluded. If there is no obvious cervical compression, it can be treated as frozen shoulder or muscle spasm.

Shoulder pain treatment:

1. Anti-inflammatory and analgesic, such as Difen 75mg/pill once a day; or naproxen 250~500mg once in the morning and evening.

2. Apply antispasmodic and analgesic tincture or safflower oil topically, then massage the affected area with your palms until it becomes warm.

3. Apply Musk Bone Strengthening Paste or Wanling Five-Spice Paste externally.

4. Local hot compress: You can use electric heating pads or other local hot compresses. In addition, acupuncture, physical therapy, massage, etc. can all be applied. Acupuncture is performed once a day or every other day, and a course of treatment is 10 days.

What to do if you have shoulder pain? If it is frozen shoulder, after the acute pain period, starting from the adhesion period, the treatment is mainly based on manipulation, massage, and especially functional exercise. The degree and quality of functional exercise are directly related to the recovery of joint function. Commonly used functional exercise methods include: facing the wall and climbing the wall, back-to-wall external rotation, head-to-ear touching, bending over and rotating the shoulders, and hand-resting shoulder pressing.
