What are the best treatments for functional uterine bleeding?

Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is a common problem during menopause, so it is important to take timely measures to stop bleeding. At the same time, you also need to pay attention to timely blood supplements and correct anemia. If necessary, you need to pay attention to surgical treatment.

1. Stop bleeding:

Hemostatic measures can be taken to treat menopausal functional bleeding. The hemostatic methods for menopausal functional bleeding include curettage, progesterone endometrial shedding method, synthetic hormone endometrial atrophy method and hemostatic agents. Long-term use of progestins to stop bleeding can be accompanied by the addition of androgens as an adjuvant therapy to reduce pelvic congestion, enhance uterine tension, and reduce bleeding. Testosterone propionate is commonly used for intramuscular injection.

2. Improve general condition and correct anemia:

People with mild anemia can take iron supplements orally, such as ferrous sulfate, Xuebao, etc. People with severe anemia (hemoglobin below 60 g/L) should rest in bed. In addition to iron supplements, they should also receive small amounts of blood transfusions, strengthen nutrition, and supplement vitamins. If the bleeding time is too long, antibiotics need to be added to prevent infection.

3. Inhibit endometrial growth and prevent cancer :

It is suitable for menopausal women with functional uterine bleeding accompanied by excessive endometrial hyperplasia, or combined with uterine fibroids and endometriosis, such as danazol, nemethicone, tamoxifen and gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists.

4. Surgical treatment:

It is suitable for perimenopausal women with endometrial adenomatous hyperplasia, atypical hyperplasia or those who have not responded to repeated treatments. Hysteroscopic surgery can be performed to destroy the endometrium to avoid hysterectomy. Hysterectomy should be performed for those suspected of cancer.
