In Zhongjing's original text, it says that it is composed of half a pound of pig fat and loose hair as big as an egg. This prescription has the effects of tonifying deficiency and moistening dryness, removing blood stasis and promoting bowel movements. In addition to being able to treat symptoms such as stomach qi diarrhea and vaginal flatulence, it can also treat symptoms such as pale yellow color of the whole body, fever in the five hearts, fatigue, weight loss, lower abdominal pain, constipation, and short and astringent urination.

Well, there are many causes of vaginal flatulence, and the pathogenesis is relatively complicated. However, judging from the literature records of Zhang Zhongjing, it is mainly related to the disorder of Qi. So why is the method of ointment and decoction chosen in treatment? The main consideration is the role of unblocking the Qi mechanism.

The pig fat in the prescription is sweet and cool in nature, and has the effects of tonifying deficiency, moistening dryness, and detoxifying. It is suitable for symptoms such as dryness of internal organs, difficult bowel movements, dry cough, and chapped skin; while the hair is bitter and slightly warm in nature, and has the effects of removing blood stasis, stopping bleeding, and promoting urination. It is suitable for symptoms such as vomiting blood, epistaxis, bloody dysentery, hematuria, metrorrhagia in women, and difficult urination. The combination of the two medicines has the effects of tonifying deficiency and moistening dryness, removing blood stasis and promoting bowel movements, and regulating Qi. Vaginal flatulence caused by the downward discharge of gastric qi is exactly what this prescription can cure.
