Be careful of skin drought if you take a bath like this in winter!

How many times do ladies take a bath in winter? Can you take a shower? These questions may seem a bit "stupid" to some girls. Everyone knows how to take a bath. We have been taking a bath since we were young, and we don't know how many times we have done it. But bathing is one thing, and healthy bathing is another.

Can you take a shower?

Many netizens said that they take a bath at least once every two days. In the eyes of experts, this way of bathing is harmful to the skin and can easily lead to "skin drought".

There are many things to know about bathing in winter

According to a dermatologist in Ningbo, skin is the natural outer coat of the human body. The outermost layer of the skin is the stratum corneum, which plays a very important role in the integrity of the skin barrier function. There is a sebum film on the stratum corneum, which is a translucent milky film formed by the emulsification of sebum, sweat and epidermal cell secretions. The free fatty acids, lactate, urea and uric acid in the sebum film are natural moisturizing factors that moisturize the skin. The stratum corneum and sebum membrane can prevent the loss of skin moisture.

In winter, the body secretes less sebum and sweat, the sebum film is significantly reduced, and water loss is obvious. If you take a bath frequently at this time, it will be more likely to damage the stratum corneum, causing damage to the epidermis, causing dry and loose skin, and even xeroderma and itching.

Experts suggest that, except for people with oily skin with active oil secretion who can choose to take a bath every day, the bathing frequency of people with neutral skin should be controlled to once every 2-3 days, and for people with dry skin who have dry and dehydrated skin, it is more appropriate to take a bath once every 3-5 days. For those who have to take a shower every day, it is recommended to perform local cleaning, or try to rinse with only clean water, and then use shower gel every other day.

Experts specifically remind that it is best to keep the water temperature at 32~35 degrees when taking a bath. The water temperature is too high if it exceeds 45 degrees. High-temperature bathing will produce excessive oil removal power and damage the surface cells of the skin.

Choose Bath Products

The choice of bath products is also important. Many people like to take a bath with soaps and shower gels that produce a lot of bubbles and have strong cleaning power, but in the autumn and winter seasons, doing so can easily cause damage to the skin and reduce the skin's protective ability. You should choose moisturizing bath products, such as neutral shower gel and bath soap. If your skin feels slippery after washing, it does not mean that the cleaning power is insufficient, but rather that the product itself forms a protective film on the skin surface.

After bathing, it is best to rinse with warm water or wipe the whole body with a cold towel, which can stimulate the pores, sweat glands, nerves and blood flow, and is less likely to catch a cold.

After bathing, the natural sebum on the skin will be washed away, and the skin will be exposed to the air, easily losing moisture and becoming dry. Therefore, apply moisturizing products in time. Especially the shoulders, back, elbows, calves, knees and other parts that are often stretched and wrinkled, or the heels and other parts without sebaceous glands. These areas are more prone to cracking and itching than other areas, so you need to be more careful in maintaining them.
