What are the long-term contraceptive methods for women?

1. Condoms

Condoms are a non-drug form of preventing conception, mainly used to prevent human sperm and eggs from combining during sexual intercourse to prevent pregnancy. In addition, condoms also prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and AIDS (HIV), so they are also called condoms. Today's condoms are usually made of natural rubber or polyurethane.

2. Contraceptive pills

Contraceptive pills generally refer to oral contraceptives, which include female oral contraceptive pills and male oral contraceptive pills. Its contraceptive principle is mainly to inhibit ovulation and change the cervical mucus to make it difficult for sperm to penetrate, or to reduce the production of glycogen in the uterine glands to make it difficult for the blastocyst to survive, or to change the activity of the uterus and fallopian tubes to hinder the transportation of the fertilized egg. A drug that prevents sperm and egg from combining to form a fertilized egg, thereby achieving the purpose of contraception.

The intrauterine device, also known as the IUD, was developed in ancient times. It is recorded that ancient Arabs and Turks placed small stones in the camel's uterus to prevent the camel from becoming pregnant during long journeys in the desert. In the mid-11th century, the Israeli scientist Avicenna reported the use of contraceptive pessaries. In the late 19th century, metal handles were used to correct the position of the uterus, induce labor, and prevent pregnancy. In fact, these devices do not enter the uterine cavity and are not true functional IUDs.

So through the above introduction, we should have some understanding of contraceptive methods. For women in their childbearing period, they should choose a reliable contraceptive method to ensure their health. Long-term contraception is very suitable for married women. It is recommended to use an IUD, which can maintain the contraceptive effect for a long time and the impact is very small.
