How to correct malposition of the fetus

How to correct malposition of the fetus

Malposition of the fetus is also called abnormal fetal position. Generally, there will be more or less malposition of the fetus before the 26th week of pregnancy. It is not particularly serious at this time. As the pregnancy time increases, the malposition of the fetus can be relieved on its own. However, some women still have malposition of the fetus at the 28th week of pregnancy, and it has not been relieved after 30 weeks. At this time, some methods are needed to correct it.

If the position of the fetus in the body is abnormal after the pregnant woman has reached 30 weeks of pregnancy, it can be called malpresentation. Pregnant women who experience malposition of the fetus are mostly those with loose abdominal walls and those who have given birth before. In medicine, the occiput anterior position is the normal fetal position, in which the fetus is with its back facing forward and chest facing backward, its hands crossed in front of its chest, its legs curled up, its head bent forward, and the occipital region lowest. Abnormal fetal positions include occiput posterior position, facial position, breech position, transverse position, frontal position, etc. Among them, breech presentation is the most common, while transverse presentation is the most hazardous position to the safety of mother and child. Since malposition of the fetus can bring different degrees of danger to pregnant women during delivery, correcting the fetal position early in pregnancy is very important to prevent dystocia.

After 28 weeks of pregnancy, abdominal, vaginal and B-ultrasound examinations can be performed to check whether the fetal position is abnormal. Before 28 weeks of pregnancy, because there is relatively more amniotic fluid and the fetus is relatively small, it has a larger range of movement in the uterus, so its position is not easy to fix. After 32 weeks of pregnancy, the baby grows rapidly and the amniotic fluid decreases relatively. At this time, the posture and position of the fetus are relatively fixed. Therefore, after 32 weeks of pregnancy, if the baby is still in an "abnormal fetal position", it is basically confirmed. Of course, it does not rule out the possibility that a very small number of babies will have "unexpected actions". Therefore, the most appropriate time to correct malposition of the fetus is between 30 and 32 weeks of pregnancy.

Some common correction methods such as malposition of the fetus are introduced above. It should be noted here that if the malposition of the fetus is not corrected in time, it may have some impact on delivery and may even lead to dystocia. Some malposition of the fetus may also lead to miscarriage. Of course, with the continuous development of medical technology, sometimes even if the fetus is in an abnormal position, it is still possible to give birth by caesarean section.
