What causes vulvar dystrophy?

What causes vulvar dystrophy?

The vulva is a female's private part and is also the most sensitive and vulnerable part of a woman. We must pay attention to protecting the vulva in normal times. However, many women, due to their lifestyle habits and other reasons, will experience friction or irritation to the most vulnerable private parts, which will eventually lead to inflammation. Over time, some women will experience vulvar malnutrition. In fact, this is a disease, not true vulvar malnutrition. Many sick women want to know how vulvar malnutrition is caused.

Three major causes of malnutrition:

1. Genetic factors

10% to 30% of patients with vulvar leukoplakia are caused by genetics. The main type of vulvar leukoplakia caused by genetics is atrophic, and the patients are mainly young girls. In clinical practice, the first thing to pay attention to for patients under 15 years old is genetic factors, and check whether there are patients with vulvar leukoplakia in their parents' family.

2. Vaginal infection and inflammatory stimulation

This is the main cause of vulvar leukoplakia, accounting for about 50% of patients. If vaginal inflammation is not treated in time, inflammatory secretions will infiltrate the perineum. If this continues for a long time, the skin and mucous membranes will be damaged, causing redness, swelling, ulcers and degeneration, which will gradually develop into vulvar leukoplakia.

3. Other diseases

If patients with diabetes, vitiligo, vulvar eczema, etc. abuse drugs and receive improper treatment, it may also cause or aggravate the formation and development of vitiligo.

How to diagnose vulvar "malnutrition"? It is mainly judged from the following aspects:

Light - the color of the vulva becomes lighter

Women with vulvar dystrophy usually do not see anything unusual when examining their vaginal discharge. Only by carefully observing the patient's vulva can you find that its color is lighter than that of a healthy woman. Some patients may also have chapped vulva, or obvious labia atrophy or lichen-like changes.

Itch - Extreme itching of the vulva

"Feeling extremely itchy" is a common feeling among many patients with vulvar dystrophy, and most of the patients who go to the hospital for treatment have been troubled by this "itching" for a long time. Although some female patients are temporarily distracted by work and other matters during the day, the itching will become "violent" at night, tormenting them and making it difficult for them to sleep.

Atrophy – shrinkage of the labia majora

There are three main types of vulvar dystrophy: vulvar squamous hyperplasia, vulvar lichen sclerosus, and a mixture of the two. If you suffer from the first type, you will feel an excruciating itch, which will become more and more itchy and painful the more you scratch. Although patients in the second situation may not necessarily experience itching, they are prone to labia atrophy, which affects their sexual life. It often occurs in menopausal women, adolescent girls and young girls. Patients who have been ill for a long time often suffer from a mixture of the two types.

There are not many causes of vulvar malnutrition, most of which are caused by diseases. Therefore, we must have a reasonable diet and a regular life in normal times, especially active exercise to improve our physical fitness. In addition, we must reduce stimulation to the vulva or reduce the occurrence of inflammation. This is also an effective way to prevent vulvar malnutrition.
