Will mild cervical erosion affect fertility?

Cervical erosion is a gynecological disease that many women will suffer from. The impact on women after contracting the disease is particularly obvious. It not only affects women's daily life and work, but also causes certain damage to women's bodies. After suffering from cervical erosion, active treatment must be carried out. The degree of cervical erosion is different for each person. Many women will worry about this problem, that is, will mild cervical erosion affect fertility? Let’s take a look at it together.

Mild cervical erosion usually does not affect conception because the inflammation is relatively mild. However, in cases of moderate to severe cervical erosion, especially severe cases, the inflammatory changes are serious and the leucorrhea is often purulent and very viscous. Inflammatory leucorrhea can inhibit or kill sperm, and the thick cervical mucus can prevent sperm from passing through the cervical canal, therefore affecting conception. When the inflammation spreads along the uterosacral ligament to the pelvic cavity and affects the fallopian tubes, it can also lead to inflammatory adhesions of the fallopian tubes, affecting the fertilization process and causing infertility. Therefore, patients with more severe cervical erosion, even women who have not yet given birth, need timely treatment. This is not only related to the long-term severe inflammatory stimulation that may lead to cervical cancer, but also to whether the patient can successfully conceive.

There are many ways to treat cervical erosion, including local medication, physical therapy and surgical treatment. Drug treatment is suitable for mild erosions with superficial inflammatory infiltration, but is often ineffective for moderate and severe erosions. It can be used as appropriate for infertile women with mild cervical erosion. Physical therapy is suitable for patients with moderate to severe erosion. Its advantages are short treatment course and good effect. Commonly used physical therapies include laser therapy, microwave therapy, electric iron therapy and cryotherapy. After the first three methods of treatment, some patients may develop obvious scars on their cervix, which will affect the dilation of the cervix during delivery, making it difficult for the cervix to fully open and affecting the smooth delivery of the fetus. The cervical scar formed by cryotherapy is shallow and generally does not hinder the dilation of the cervix, so it will not affect the smooth delivery of the fetus. Of course, women who have undergone the above-mentioned physical therapy can still deliver by cesarean section if the cervix dilation is obstructed and the vaginal delivery of the fetus is affected. For women who have not given birth, surgical removal of cervical erosion lesions is not a suitable treatment method. This is not only because there is a lot of bleeding during the operation, but also because it may cause the cervix to relax after the operation, leading to miscarriage after pregnancy.

Through the above introduction, we know that mild cervical erosion will not affect fertility. However, no matter whether it is mild or any degree of cervical erosion, active treatment must be carried out after the disease, and pregnancy can be carried out after recovery to prevent mild cervical erosion from turning into severe one. This is also a problem that women need to pay attention to. It is most important to carry out effective treatment according to their own situation.
