How to calculate the fertile period of women?

After every newly married couple, the first thing they think of is having children. If a woman wants to get pregnant, she must calculate the fertile period so that she can get pregnant as soon as possible and make things simpler. So how do you calculate the fertile period for women? If you don’t know, you can ask someone with experience or go to the hospital for a check-up. Next, let us understand how to calculate the fertile period of women.

Even without any insurance measures, many couples cannot get pregnant after having sex for a long time. Faced with the anxious eyes of their parents-in-law, they rush to the hospital for a check-up. The diagnosis results show that there is nothing wrong with it. What is the problem? When is the best time for young couples to get pregnant? Here are three ways to self-test the best time to conceive.

1. Calculate ovulation period

If your menstrual cycle is regular, you can roughly calculate the day of ovulation and plan to have sex around the time of ovulation. Calculate when your next menstrual period might occur, and then work backwards 16 days to find your approximate ovulation date.

Here we take a 30-day menstrual cycle as an example: Day 1 (menstruation) Days 15-19 (ovulation) Day 30 (the day before the next menstruation)

This is the most commonly known method, but many people don’t quite understand it.

2. Basal body temperature measurement method

The basal body temperature of normal women changes cyclically during the menstrual cycle. Generally, ovulation occurs before the basal body temperature rises or during the process of rising from low to high. The increase in basal temperature after ovulation indicates that ovulation has occurred. The first three days when the basal temperature is at an elevated level are the "fertile period". The temperature increase is generally 0.3℃~0.C℃.

This method can indicate that ovulation has occurred, but it cannot predict when ovulation will occur.

3. Cervical mucus observation method

Generally, women with a normal menstrual cycle will feel a "dry period" in the genitals after the menstrual period ends, followed by a "wet period", then another "dry period" and the next menstrual period. The "moisture" here refers to the moist feeling of the vulva produced by the cervical mucus originating from the vagina.

Before and after menstruation, mucus is often thick and less in quantity, or even absent. In the middle of the menstrual cycle, the mucus will become thinner and more abundant. The closer to ovulation, the clearer and more transparent it becomes, resembling egg white, and is elastic, with the highest degree of silkiness and the smoothest feeling. The last day of this mucus is called the "peak day," and ovulation occurs 48 hours before and after it. Therefore, it is easy to get pregnant if you have sex during the "wet period" before ovulation until 3 days after the peak day.

These three methods all have their inaccuracies, so by combining the three methods, it is estimated that you will be able to conceive your baby on that day. Before ovulation, you should plan to reduce the number of sexual intercourse to ensure the quantity and quality of sperm. During the ovulation period, various conditions should be considered comprehensively, because the egg can generally only survive for 12 to 24 hours after being released, and the sperm can usually only survive for 1 to 3 days in the female reproductive tract. Therefore, generally speaking, it is easiest to get pregnant from 3 days before ovulation to 1 day after ovulation. It is not easy to get pregnant if you have sex too early or too late.
