Can I swim if I have cervicitis?

Cervicitis is a common gynecological disease among women, especially married women are more likely to suffer from it. In my country, 20% of the population has experienced symptoms of cervicitis. Most of them are caused by bacteria infection from unclean vulva entering the vagina, causing disease infection and endometrial lesions. This does not cause much trouble to women. There are many swimming enthusiasts who are also concerned about whether they can swim if they have cervicitis?

The main symptom of cervicitis is increased vaginal discharge. The symptoms of acute cervicitis are purulent leucorrhea, accompanied by pain in the lower abdomen and lumbosacral area, or bladder irritation signs such as frequent urination, urgency, and pain when urinating.

The symptoms of chronic cervicitis are milky white mucous or light yellow purulent leucorrhea; in severe cervical erosion or cervical polyps, there may be bloody leucorrhea or bleeding after sexual intercourse. In mild cases, there may be no systemic symptoms. When the inflammation spreads along the uterosacral ligament to the pelvic cavity, there may be pain in the lumbar region, a feeling of heaviness in the lower abdomen, and dysmenorrhea, which worsens during bowel movements and sexual intercourse.

Regardless of whether cervicitis is serious or not, you cannot swim as long as you have it. People with any gynecological disease are not allowed to swim.

Because there are a lot of people and bacteria in the swimming pool, if you enter the swimming pool, the bacteria may enter your body again, causing the inflammation to worsen, leading to the spread of infection, causing adnexitis or pelvic inflammatory disease, and even causing infertility. Therefore, you cannot swim until cervicitis is cured.

For patients with cervicitis, swimming is harmful to the body, because cervicitis is mostly caused by bacteria. During swimming, bacteria will enter the vagina and cause reinfection, which will not only cause cervicitis but also cervical cancer. It is best not to swim during cervicitis and pay attention to personal hygiene.
