For the human body, sufficient sleep and good sleep quality are one of the necessary conditions for longevity. Generally speaking, there are three common sleeping postures: supine, side-lying and prone. For women, the best sleeping position is lying on the right side. Sleeping on your back does not seem to affect the body's organs. In fact, in the normal anatomy of the female reproductive system, the position of the uterus should be anteriorly bent and anteflexed. However, studies have found that most posterior uteri are related to supine sleeping position.

Currently, not many women sleep on their stomachs, because this posture can easily put pressure on the chest and affect breathing. For growing teenage girls, this posture can also affect the development of the chest and breasts, so it should be avoided as much as possible.

The uterus can be in the anteverted and anteflexed position thanks to the uterine ligaments, while the posterior uterus falls towards the sacral recess, especially the retroflexed uterus, which makes the entire uterine body lie in the sacral recess, blocking the sacral recess tightly and compressing the presacral nerve tissue, which can easily cause discomfort such as low back pain and lower abdominal distension. Before menstruation, the uterine body and the soft tissue in front of the sacrum become congested and edematous, which can increase the pressure of the posterior uterus on the nervous tissue and aggravate the symptoms.

In addition, a posterior uterus has the following potential problems:

Infertility: The posterior uterus can pull the cervix upward and point to the anterior wall of the vagina, making the external os of the cervix significantly higher than the semen pool, like a cliff by the river. Then the sperm cannot enter the cervical canal smoothly, and conception is of course difficult to achieve.

Excessive menstruation can cause the uterus to tilt backwards, and can often cause the ovaries and fallopian tubes to sag backwards and downwards, causing the position of the ovaries and fallopian tubes to change, causing the pelvic veins to twist, blood flow to become poor, and pelvic venous congestion, leading to excessive menstruation. This can also easily lead to pain during sexual intercourse, making women fearful of sexual intercourse.

Dysmenorrhea, the posterior uterus is like a teapot, the cervical canal is like the spout of the teapot, and the uterine body is like the body of the teapot. The cervix, which serves as the spout of the teapot, is located higher than the uterine cavity, which serves as the body of the teapot, making it difficult for menstrual blood to be discharged from the "bottom of the pot".

Excluding supine and prone sleeping positions, the only remaining sleeping position is side sleeping. Among them, lying on the left side is not ideal because it will compress the heart and may cause discomfort. Sleeping on the right side does not have the problems that may be caused by the above sleeping positions, so it naturally becomes the most recommended sleeping position for women.
