Is it good for menopausal women to take estrogen?

When the secretion of estrogen in a woman's body is low, it means that she is about to enter menopause. For some women, menopause is relatively mild, and they hardly feel anything other than menopause; while for others, menopause is very severe, and they are not only irritable and restless, but may even suffer from depression. So, can women take some estrogen during menopause to relieve menopausal symptoms?

Hormone therapy is a "double-edged sword"

After menopause, estrogen levels in women's bodies drop rapidly, and many people experience menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, irritability, temper tantrums, headaches, palpitations, etc. As time goes by, senile vaginitis, urethritis and cystitis will gradually appear, and sexual function will be significantly reduced. In addition, osteoporosis is also quietly approaching. We see that many elderly people are becoming shorter, hunchbacked, and even suffering fractures.

Hormone replacement therapy can effectively eliminate the symptoms of urogenital tract atrophy and improve the quality of life of menopausal women. However, hormone therapy may also increase the risk of blood clots, breast cancer, and stroke. Like all drug treatments, it is a "double-edged sword." How to use it appropriately so that people can benefit from it while minimizing risks has been the focus of hormone replacement therapy workers since the 1990s, and it is also the most concerning issue for perimenopausal and postmenopausal women.

Estrogen supplementation must be based on doctor's advice

For menopausal syndrome caused by early menopause, the most effective treatment is estrogen replacement therapy. Experts suggest that when supplementing with estrogen, one must first determine whether the menopausal symptoms are caused by a drop in hormone levels. After confirmation, a full body check-up is required. Women with diseases such as hypertension and diabetes should not use this product. If you have endometrial thickening, breast hyperplasia, uterine fibroids, or ovarian fibroids, try not to take estrogen therapy.

It is not difficult to see from the above that although menopause is caused by too little estrogen secretion in the body, estrogen cannot be supplemented casually, because improper use may cause adverse effects on the body. Therefore, menopausal women who want to supplement estrogen must do so under the guidance of a doctor and never supplement blindly on their own.
