What should I check when preparing for pregnancy?

Nowadays, many people have to make a lot of preparations before getting pregnant, and this is to give birth to a healthy and smart baby! Therefore, the physical condition of women before pregnancy is very important, and the physical condition of men is also very important. Many people don’t know what examinations they should do before preparing for pregnancy? What should I check when preparing for pregnancy? Let’s take a look!

1. Routine examination of leucorrhea and genital tract infection with Chlamydia trachomatis and Mycoplasma

Purpose of examination: Genital mycoplasma infection can cause cervicitis. After the pregnant mother is infected, it can invade the amniotic membrane and damage the placenta to cause chorioritis during the 16th to 20th week of pregnancy, leading to miscarriage, premature birth or stillbirth. Newborns infected with mycoplasma may develop mycoplasma pneumonia and may also cause postpartum pelvic inflammatory disease in the mother. Therefore, before pregnancy, it is necessary to rule out genital chlamydia and mycoplasma infection. If you have already been infected, you should be cured before becoming pregnant.

2. Ultrasound examination

Purpose of examination: B-ultrasound examination can help understand the development of the uterus and ovaries, the length of the cervical canal, whether there are abnormalities in the fallopian tubes, whether there are uterine malformations and adenomyosis, uterine and ovarian tumors, etc. If a similar condition occurs, seek treatment before pregnancy.

3. Basal body temperature measurement

Purpose of examination: For women of childbearing age who are in the normal ovulation period, the basal body temperature shows a biphasic change due to the influence of different estrogen and progesterone in the follicular phase and the luteal phase. The speed and amplitude of the basal body temperature increase after ovulation and the duration of the high temperature can provide a preliminary understanding of whether ovulation has occurred and the function of the corpus luteum after ovulation. If the corpus luteum function level is low, the egg will not be easy to implant and miscarriage is likely to occur.

The purpose of the checkup is to better conceive a baby. What checkups should be done when preparing for pregnancy? The above article has introduced them in detail. If you also want to have a healthy and smart baby, these examinations are necessary. At the same time, both men and women should pay attention to their daily habits and strictly prohibit smoking and drinking.
