What to do if progesterone is too low

Some women, due to low progesterone levels, are prone to symptoms such as obesity, low blood sugar, emotional instability, and even infertility, breast pain, and irregular menstruation. So what exactly is progesterone? What causes low progesterone? What to do if progesterone is low? Well, next, I will give you some specific knowledge about female progesterone.

Progesterone, also known as lutein, is a natural progestin secreted by the corpus luteum in the female ovary. When the endometrium is stimulated by estrogen, the progesterone secreted by the corpus luteum can have a morphological effect on pregnancy. The normal value of progesterone is different in each period.

Since each hospital's testing units have certain differences, the detected values may differ from the normal values provided in this table. If the test results are significantly different from the above table, the doctor's professional answer shall prevail.

What causes low progesterone? Experts point out that low progesterone levels can easily occur if you suffer from symptoms of threatened abortion, irregular menstruation, incomplete development of the corpus luteum of the ovary, adrenal and thyroid dysfunction leading to abnormal ovulation, too much stress, eating foods high in sugar, or too little exercise.

Nutritionists suggest that women with low progesterone levels can supplement it through dietary supplements. Eating more fruits such as grapefruit, kiwi and strawberry, which are rich in pectin and dietary fiber and will not significantly lower or increase blood sugar, can effectively supplement progesterone.

Gynecological experts point out that medicinal supplements can immediately treat the symptoms of low progesterone. Progesterone is clinically used for reactive diagnosis of various symptoms of miscarriage and irregular menstruation. The most effective way is to take a single intramuscular injection of about 20 mg of progesterone. The method of intramuscular injection is different for different symptoms caused by low progesterone.

①Treatment of habitual abortion caused by low progesterone:

For this type of women, a single intramuscular injection of about 15 mg of progesterone can be used, and the patient should go to the hospital for injection three times a week, and continue to receive the injection until the end of the 16th week of pregnancy.

②Treatment of dysmenorrhea caused by low progesterone:

For women with regular menstrual cycles, dysmenorrhea symptoms are often caused by uterine hypoplasia and low progesterone secretion by the corpus luteum during menstruation. Such women can start injecting 10 mg of progesterone every day one week before menstruation and use estrogen in combination. They can be cured by intramuscular injection for half a year.

③Treatment of excessive menstrual bleeding or metrorrhagia caused by low progesterone:

Some women have excessive bleeding during menstruation due to low progesterone levels, and in severe cases may even have hemorrhage. For these women, 15 mg can be injected intramuscularly once a day. One week is a course of treatment, and the treatment should be stopped for half a month after each course. After four courses of treatment, the patient will be cured.

Finally, the editor needs to remind everyone that when a woman finds that her progesterone level is too low, the first thing she should do is to go to the hospital for a comprehensive examination and take an appropriate amount of natural progesterone as prescribed by the doctor, because the progesterone content in food is relatively low compared to natural progesterone. It is better to take good care of your body on a daily basis.
