What to do if pregnant women have anemia

During pregnancy, the amount of hemolysis in a woman's body increases by almost 50% compared to normal conditions. In the early stages of pregnancy, she is prone to vomiting and loss of appetite. During this stage, the intake and absorption of various nutrients cannot keep up in time, making it easy for her to develop anemia due to insufficient intake of vitamins, iron, folic acid, etc. This anemia will resolve on its own after the pregnancy ends. Of course, anemia during pregnancy should also be taken seriously.

Pregnant women with anemia should eat foods rich in iron, such as pork liver, lean meat and fresh vegetables. Gastrointestinal diseases should also be corrected in a timely manner. If anemia is caused by parasitic diseases, deworming treatment should be carried out.

Even if a non-anemic woman becomes pregnant, she is prone to anemia symptoms. For women who suffer from anemia before pregnancy, the anemia symptoms will be more severe after pregnancy. Therefore, when a married woman is determined to take on the sacred mission of being a mother, she should check whether she has anemia. Early detection and treatment are important measures to protect the health of mother and child.

Industrialized countries have long used food fortification with iron to treat anemia caused by iron deficiency and have achieved good results. In recent years, many developing countries have also promoted food fortification with iron to solve anemia in women and children. Foods commonly used fortified with iron include flour, corn flour, soy sauce, sugar, salt, etc. my country is currently implementing the policy of fortifying soy sauce with iron to prevent anemia.

Improve your diet and eat foods rich in iron. Among animal foods, liver, blood tofu and meat are high in iron and are well absorbed. Egg yolks also contain iron. The iron content in vegetables is low and poorly absorbed, but fresh green vegetables are rich in folic acid. Folic acid is involved in the production of red blood cells. Folic acid deficiency causes macrocytic anemia and can also cause mixed anemia. Therefore, you should eat a certain amount of meat, liver, and blood tofu in your diet; you should also eat fresh vegetables.

Animal livers contain a large amount of vitamin A and iron, so women with anemia during pregnancy can eat more animal liver foods, such as pork liver soup, fried pork liver, etc. If the iron deficiency is more serious, you should also supplement iron preparations according to the doctor's advice. While supplementing iron, you should also actively supplement with small doses of iron, which can quickly relieve anemia.
