In case of Qi deficiency, add 9 grams each of Astragalus and Codonopsis; in case of blood deficiency, add 12 grams each of Rehmannia and White Peony Root; in case of Yin deficiency, add 9 grams each of Adenophora and Ophiopogon. If the phlegm is difficult to cough up and is yellow in color, add 9 grams each of Trichosanthes peel and Belamcanda chinensis; if the phlegm is white, add 9 grams each of Pinellia ternata and Aster tataricus; if the cough is severe, add 9 grams each of Astragalus membranaceus and Platycladus orientalis; if there is a lot of phlegm, add 9 grams each of Fritillaria cirrhosa and Sinapis alba. If there is heat, add 12 grams of Scutellaria baicalensis and 30 grams of Houttuynia cordata. In addition, if there are exterior symptoms, add 9 grams each of Schizonepeta and Bupleurum to clear the exterior and expel the evil. For those with obvious blood stasis, add peach kernel to resolve phlegm and relieve cough. For constipation, add 9 grams each of Trichosanthes seed and processed Chuanxiong to clear the bowels, eliminate evil, and promote the flow of lung qi. Take it in decoction, one dose per day. Be especially careful about colds and winds when breastfeeding.
