Leucorrhea is a kind of vaginal discharge in women. It is composed of fluids secreted by various tissues. Generally speaking, normal leucorrhea should be a colorless and odorless liquid. The amount is sometimes slightly more, but most of the time very little. Its secretion should have a certain regularity. So what happens if there is blood mixed in the leucorrhea? Let’s find out. Usually, if there is blood in the leucorrhea, it is mainly caused by the following diseases: 1. Acute vaginitis: The main symptoms of acute vaginitis include leucorrhea with an unpleasant odor, watery or purulent appearance, and a significant increase in volume. Severe infection may cause vaginal spotting. 2. Cervical polyps: One of the manifestations of chronic cervicitis is cervical polyps. Married women are more likely to suffer from cervical polyps. One-third of cervical polyps have no obvious symptoms, so it is easy to miss the best time for treatment, but they can be discovered through examination. The main symptoms of cervical polyps include leucorrhea with an odor, yellowness, and blood. There will be a small amount of bleeding after sexual intercourse, and some patients' bleeding amount is even almost the same as menstrual blood. Some patients' leucorrhea will be yellow, and a few people's leucorrhea will be accompanied by an odor and contain blood. 3. Senile vaginitis: Vaginal discharge increases significantly and becomes light yellow. In severe cases, the discharge becomes bloody and purulent. 4. Severe cervical erosion: Usually, patients with mild cervical erosion do not have any obvious symptoms, while patients with moderate cervical erosion will have a significant increase in leucorrhea. Depending on the cause, leucorrhea can present in different conditions, with different colors, smells, shapes, and degrees. It may appear yellow pus or white, or milky white mucus. The main symptoms of severe cervical erosion include yellow, sticky and odorous leucorrhea, accompanied by vulvar itching, menstrual pain, lumbar pain, and bleeding during sexual intercourse. 5. Cervical cancer: There will be a small amount of bleeding during sexual intercourse and increased vaginal discharge. 6. Endometrial cancer: The main symptoms include irregular bleeding, prolonged menstrual period in non-menopausal women, and postmenopausal bleeding in menopausal women. I have heard many people say that if you find bloody leucorrhea, it must be a sign of gynecological cancer. In fact, this is not the case. It is entirely possible that gynecological cancer has no symptoms in the early stages, and some contact bleeding in the late stages has nothing to do with leucorrhea. So if you have bloody leucorrhea, don't panic, the right thing to do is to get checked as soon as possible. |
