Physical examination of ovarian cysts

Physical examination of ovarian cysts

As modern people's living standards have improved, they have become more concerned about physical examinations. Even if the unit does not organize one, they will still go for regular examinations. This awareness is worthy of praise. Some women find some problems during physical examinations, especially ovarian cysts, which may make women very scared. In fact, this is very normal. Many women experience this condition. Generally speaking, it is benign and physiological, so there is no need to worry.

Physiological cysts - more observation

According to Wang Ke, deputy director of the Department of Gynecological Oncology at Tianjin Cancer Hospital, some ovarian cysts are physiological, such as follicular cysts and corpus luteum cysts, which are formed during the development of follicles and absorption of the corpus luteum after ovulation. This type of ovarian cyst is mostly unilateral, with a diameter of less than 5 cm, thin walls, and no internal partitions. It can usually be absorbed naturally and can be followed up for 2-3 months and re-examined after the menstruation is over. The cyst may disappear on its own and usually does not require special treatment.

Pathological cysts——pay more attention

If the cyst persists or grows, it may be an ovarian tumor, in which case surgical treatment should be considered. Most ovarian tumors are benign, such as mature ovarian cystic teratoma, ovarian serous cystadenoma, mucinous cystadenoma, etc., and others include ovarian endometriosis cysts.

Special vigilance is needed

If ultrasound shows that the ovarian cyst is solid, has irregular edges, has a papillary structure inside, is accompanied by a lot of ascites, and has a strong blood flow signal, then you need to be alert to the possibility of a borderline tumor or a malignant tumor and should go to a regular hospital for surgery as soon as possible.

Be careful with chocolate cysts

The lesions of endometriosis occur in cysts formed on the ovaries. Because the cysts contain dark brown old blood and are shaped like chocolate, they are also called ovarian chocolate cysts. Chocolate cysts are accompanied by an increase in the tumor marker CA125, so do not mistake it for ovarian cancer. However, the disease is highly harmful and has the risk of malignant transformation, which is highly malignant and requires timely surgical removal.
