What causes low progesterone?

Progesterone is an item that women need to check when they are doing an examination. Only through this examination can we know whether the woman's body is normal. Many women always check their progesterone during pregnancy. This is to avoid physical abnormalities causing harm to the fetus. During the examination, it is seen that many pregnant women have low progesterone. So under what circumstances will the progesterone level be low? Let's take a look at it together.

Women cannot live without progesterone. Once the progesterone level is too low, it will affect women's pregnancy and other conditions. Therefore, once we know that our progesterone level is low, we must actively think of ways to regulate it.

Low progesterone refers to luteal insufficiency, insufficient progesterone secretion by the corpus luteum, or premature luteal failure, which leads to poor endometrial secretion, resulting in difficulty in implantation of the fertilized egg, early pregnancy and miscarriage. Low progesterone is a very harmful disease for women. So, why does progesterone become low?

Progesterone plays a significant role in women because pregnancy and embryo development are closely related to progesterone. During the reproductive process, progesterone can help stimulate changes in the uterus and promote the development of the embryo by increasing blood flow to the blood vessels and tissues of the reproductive system.

When the corpus luteum is incompletely functional and the corpus luteum of the ovary is underdeveloped, the progesterone content in the body will also decrease. When the adrenal and thyroid glands are severely dysfunctional, it can also affect ovarian function, leading to ovulation disorders and lower progesterone levels than normal.

When the body becomes insulin resistant, it can also lead to low progesterone. Infertility is the most important symptom of low progesterone in women. Hypothyroidism, fibrocystic breasts, hypoglycemia, and gallbladder disease are also symptoms of low progesterone, but the symptoms can be harder to spot. The more obvious symptoms include irregular menstrual cycles, weight gain, vaginal dryness and breast tenderness.

If female friends find themselves experiencing these symptoms, they should go to the hospital for examination and treatment in time to avoid serious phenomena such as premature birth and miscarriage.

In normal times, eating more foods rich in vitamins and fiber can also help restore progesterone levels to normal.

When women encounter these situations, they will suffer from low progesterone. For a pregnant woman, low progesterone will definitely be bad for the development of the fetus. Low progesterone may also lead to miscarriage or even fetal malformation. Therefore, if progesterone is low, it must be corrected in time and progesterone must be taken for treatment.
