I keep bleeding after taking short-acting contraceptive pills

Short-term contraceptives are safe and effective. Most women do not experience vaginal bleeding after taking them. However, a very small number of women may experience spotting or menstrual-like bleeding in the vagina during the pill period. This type of abnormal vaginal bleeding is called breakthrough bleeding. There are two key reasons for this.

(1) Insufficient dosage of emergency contraceptive. Short-term contraceptive pills should be taken starting on the 5th day of menarche, 1 pill per day, for a 22-day cycle. If a dose is missed, stopped midway, or drugs that affect the effectiveness of emergency contraceptive pills are taken during the pill-taking period, or gastrointestinal diseases are suffered during the pill-taking period, all of these can affect the effective dosage of emergency contraceptive pills in the body. This will cause the body's estrogen and oestrogen levels to drop suddenly, and the uterine wall will lose the support of hormones and become necrotic and fall off, leading to vaginal bleeding.

(2) Individual differences: The ratio of estrogen and estrogens contained in emergency contraceptives is inconsistent with the balanced requirements of estrogen and estrogens in some patients' bodies, resulting in a relative deficiency of a certain type of hormone in the body, which cannot maintain the growth and development of the uterine wall, causing it to fall off and cause bleeding.

Vaginal bleeding occurs in the first half of the menstrual cycle and is often caused by insufficient estrogen. The method is to take 1-2 tablets of the emergency contraceptive neutralizer ethinyl estradiol every day while taking short-term contraceptives, until you have taken 22 tablets of short-term contraceptives and then stop taking them together. After the estrogen increases, it promotes the uterine wall to grow again. Once the uterine wall is repaired, the bleeding stops.

If vaginal bleeding occurs in the second half of the menstrual cycle, it is often caused by insufficient progesterone. At this time, you need to take one tablet of emergency contraception every day, that is, take 2 tablets of short-term contraceptive pills every day, and continue to take them until the originally scheduled discontinuation time, and wait for the first menstruation.
