Is non-gonococcal cervicitis serious?

Women play an important role in society. Nowadays, there are women in all walks of life, but many diseases now pose a great threat to the health of the majority of female friends. Many people may have heard of non-gonococcal cervicitis, which is a common gynecological disease in clinical practice. So, is non-gonococcal cervicitis serious? For some information about this disease, please see the following introduction.

Non-gonococcal cervicitis is a type of chronic cervicitis, generally referring to mucopurulent cervicitis (MPC) caused by Chlamydia trachomatis and Mycoplasma. It is an endocervicitis characterized by redness, swelling, easy bleeding and sticky and purulent secretions in the endometriotic area of the cervix. Domestic and foreign studies have shown that Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae infections can cause MPC. Mucopurulent cervicitis is divided into gonococcal cervicitis and chlamydial cervicitis, among which chlamydial and mycoplasma cervicitis, i.e. non-gonococcal cervicitis, are more serious.

If non-gonococcal cervicitis is not treated, it may lead to female infertility. According to research, the chlamydia positivity rate was about 30% when the infected fallopian tube fluid was examined under direct laparoscopic vision, and about 40% of salpingitis was caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. Pregnant women infected with Chlamydia are prone to miscarriage, and most of the miscarriages cause salpingitis. Many women infected with Chlamydia develop infertility or ectopic pregnancy several years later, and ectopic pregnancy is found to be caused by fallopian tube obstruction. Among those with ectopic pregnancy and subfertility, 81% are positive for Chlamydia trachomatis antibodies.

Patients with non-gonococcal cervicitis should avoid spicy, fried, and warm foods: spicy and fried foods such as chili, fennel, pepper, onion, mustard, roast chicken, fried pork chops, etc.; warm foods such as beef, mutton, dog meat, etc. can cause heat and aggravate the condition. Avoid irritating foods such as seafood and river fish: Marine fish, crabs, shrimps, clams, razor clams, oysters, abalone and other aquatic products are all irritating foods and are not conducive to the reduction of inflammation.
