Postpartum recovery refers to the need for certain recovery and maintenance after a woman has given birth, often due to excessive weakness of the body. This type of recovery and maintenance is called postpartum recovery. The key aspects of postpartum recovery include the care of the private cell factors of the perineum after childbirth, as well as the body recovery after childbirth, uterus recovery after childbirth and psychological recovery after childbirth. Women must pay attention to the balance of diet and nutrition during the recovery period.

Generally speaking, postpartum recovery should include the following three contents: reasonable repair of the postpartum body damaged by pregnancy; timely elimination of various sub-health disorders that may cause diseases during the postpartum period; and making full use of the golden period after childbirth to comprehensively adjust one's physical fitness, so that the body can reach a best balance as soon as possible. In short, in addition to the restoration of ovaries, body shape and appearance, it should also include the restoration of each tissue function, such as: cleaning of extracellular fluid, replenishment of body fluids, conditioning of blood, qi and internal organs, as well as the improvement of overall body functions, and adjustment of the psychological state after childbirth.

What should you pay attention to during postpartum recovery?

1. Take rest

During the uterus repair process, you need to get enough rest. After giving birth, you can get out of bed and move around appropriately, which can not only allow the postpartum lochia to be discharged smoothly, but also promote the repair of the uterus. However, you should not do heavy physical work with weights too early to prevent poor repair of the uterus and the occurrence of uterine prolapse.

2. Prevent infection

Pay attention to hygiene after giving birth, clean the vulva every day, and strictly avoid having sex during the confinement period to prevent bacteria from infecting the unhealed uterus.

3. Be alert to abnormal bleeding

After a pregnant woman gives birth, many blood vessel ends are exposed on the adhesion surface of the uterine embryo, resulting in uterine bleeding. As the uterus contracts, the wound gradually becomes smaller, the blood vessels close, and the bleeding gradually decreases. If abnormal uterine bleeding increases significantly, you should be alert to abnormal bleeding caused by retained embryos, fetal membranes, or poor uterine contractions.

4. Pain Transformation

The process of uterine lowering is actually a process in which its muscles continue to contract and shorten, and the length and volume of muscle cells significantly decrease. During this process, the blood vessels between the myometrium are compressed and narrowed, and the myometrium causes pain due to ischemia; at the same time, the contraction of the myometrium can also directly compress the nerves in the myometrium and cause pain. This type of abdominal pain occurs within 2 to 3 days after giving birth, and is manifested as paroxysmal pain in the lower abdomen. Generally, no special medication is required, but painkillers may be considered as appropriate.
