How to do cervical liquid-based cytology test

The uterus is an important organ of women. In order to better protect women's uterine health, cervical liquid-based cytology examination is an important means of checking uterine health. Many of our female friends don’t know much about cervical liquid-based cytology, so we need to learn about this aspect. So how is cervical liquid-based cytology performed? Let's learn about this together.

1. What is cervical TCT (liquid-based cytology) examination?

1. TCT examination is the abbreviation of liquid-based thin layer cytology test. It is currently the most advanced method for checking whether the cervix has precancerous lesions. It can improve the detection rate of patients with early cancer and allow these patients to receive early treatment.

2. The entire TCT examination process only takes 3 to 6 minutes. This diagnostic method does not cause damage to the cervix and is not painful.

3. The TCT examination method is to use a cervical swab to brush the exfoliated cells on the surface of the cervix and within about 1.5 cm of the cervix, immerse them in "cell preservation fluid", and analyze them under a light microscope.

4. In addition to providing more opportunities to detect precancerous lesions, TCT examination can also detect the presence of microbial infections such as fungi, Trichomonas, viruses, chlamydia, etc.

2. Cervical TCT examination is not suitable for people:

1. Women who have no sex life

2. Women during menstruation.

3. Under what circumstances should cervical TCT examination be performed?

1. Screening of patients with chronic cervicitis

2. Annual gynecological examination

3. Routine examination contents of uterine preservation surgery

4. Items needed for cervical TCT examination:

1. Get on the examination bed: Lie down on the gynecological examination chair as required by the doctor. The doctor will ask you to place your legs on the racks on both sides. Don’t be shy at this time. Just think about it, you are already on the "battlefield" and there is no way back. Try to convince yourself and relax. Besides, doctors are always the best allies of patients.

2. Vaginal speculum: During the procedure, the doctor will insert a speculum into your vagina. You will see a duck-bill-shaped speculum on the instrument table in front of the gynecological examination chair. It is used to observe the conditions inside the vagina and cervix. When the doctor inserts the vaginal speculum into your vagina, you will feel a sudden coldness and discomfort. However, if you ask your doctor to warm the vaginal speculum in hot water before using it, the subsequent examination will be more comfortable.

3. Brush to collect cervical cells: The doctor uses a small brush-like object to gently rub the surface of your cervix and the cervical opening to brush out cells.

5. Precautions before cervical TCT examination:

1. Do not get screened during menstruation.

During menstruation, the body's resistance decreases, which can easily lead to menstrual blood infection and implantation of endometrial fragments. Therefore, any vaginal examination and operation are prohibited during menstruation unless necessary. Menstrual blood can also affect the accuracy of the test results.

2. Do not have sexual intercourse within 24 hours before the screening. Semen may get into the sample being drawn, affecting the accuracy of the results.

3. Do not douche or use vaginal medications within 3 days before the examination. Do not perform vaginal examination. If there is inflammation, treat it first. Flushing will flush out some potential cancer cells. You should not take medication vaginally as it will affect the biopsy samples, cover abnormal cells and affect the accuracy of the results.

4. Because you will need to take off your lower body clothes during the examination, you should wear clothes and shoes that are easy to take off and change.
