What to do with abdominal pain after childbirth

Now many doctors have found that many women come to the hospital for treatment after giving birth, especially more and more women report that they have abdominal pain after giving birth, and women don’t understand why they still have abdominal pain after giving birth. In fact, women’s bodies need to be replenished for a period of time after giving birth, and their bodies are also very fragile during this period. So today I will introduce to you the reasons why women suffer from abdominal pain after childbirth.

Postpartum abdominal pain is a disease name in Traditional Chinese Medicine. After giving birth, a pregnant woman will experience intermittent pain in the lower abdomen due to the contraction of the uterus. The pain will appear 1 to 2 days after delivery and will disappear naturally after 2 to 3 days. Western medicine calls it "uterine contraction pain" or "postpartum pain". It is a physiological phenomenon and generally does not require treatment. If the abdominal pain becomes severe and unbearable, or if it persists and affects the recovery of the mother, it is a pathological condition and should be treated.

The main pathogenesis of this disease is poor circulation of Qi and blood, which causes pain when Qi and blood are not flowing smoothly or when they are blocked. The occurrence of postpartum abdominal pain is closely related to the contraction of the uterus and the physical condition of the mother. During pregnancy, the uterus stores blood and essence to nourish the fetus. As the fetus grows, the uterus gradually becomes full. After delivery, the fetus and placenta come out successively, the uterus goes from storing to draining, and from being swollen to being empty. In addition, the uterus contracts and expels the remaining blood and turbid fluid. During this process of storage and drainage, the qi and blood in the uterus change dramatically. If the mother is in good health, she can usually adapt to this. If the mother's qi and blood are weak, or she loses too much blood during delivery, or she has improper regulation after delivery, which leads to blood deficiency, the Chong, Ren and Bao meridians will not be nourished, and pain will occur; or there is excess blood and turbid fluid in the uterus, which causes blood stasis due to cold, or there is qi stagnation and blood stasis, or there is residual placenta and placenta, which will block the Chong, Ren and Bao meridians and cause pain. Common causes are deficiency of Qi and blood, and stagnation of the uterus.

Preventive care

1. Postpartum abdominal pain is more common in multiparous women, so family planning should be done well.

2. After delivery, mothers should eliminate fear and mental tension, keep warm, and avoid drinking cold water or catching cold.

3. Closely observe the contraction of the uterus and pay attention to the height of the uterine fundus and changes in lochia. If there is any suspected placenta or afterbirth residue, it should be checked and treated promptly.

The above are some of the reasons why women still have abdominal pain after childbirth, and solutions to the problem introduced to us by professionals. So based on the above we can see that postpartum abdominal pain is a normal phenomenon, and women should not worry too much about themselves. Just pay more attention to taking care of your body in daily life. I hope the above content can help you.
