What are the signs of labor in late pregnancy?

Many pregnant women are at the age of giving birth but the baby is still reluctant to come out. The reason for this situation can cause pregnant women to be anxious. Many people also wonder why the baby hasn’t been born yet when the time for delivery has come. What physical symptoms will pregnant women experience during childbirth? You can use these symptoms and information to understand the condition of the pregnant woman. For example, we can understand the condition of the pregnant woman and some conditions of delivery through symptoms such as the amount of food she eats, bloating and pain, and secretions. I hope these can help everyone.

Before normal labor begins, pregnant women may experience some symptoms that indicate that labor is about to begin, which is called threatened labor. If there are signs of impending labor, the pregnant woman will begin preparing to go to the hospital for delivery. Threatened labor includes:

1. Feeling of the fetus descending. At this time, the pregnant woman will feel that her breathing is lighter than before, her upper abdomen is more comfortable than before, and her food intake increases. Because the descending fetal head compresses the pelvis and bladder, pregnant women often have symptoms of frequent urination.

2. Before the onset of false labor, pregnant women often experience "false labor" of varying lengths. Its characteristics are: the intervals between contractions are irregular; the contractions are not severe, only slight distension and pain in the lower abdomen is felt, often occurring at night and disappearing in the early morning; the duration is short and not constant, generally not exceeding 30 seconds.

3. Spotting: When approaching delivery, some women may have a small amount of bloody secretions discharged from the vagina, which is called spotting. Sometimes, mucus plugs may also be discharged at the same time. Bloody show is a reliable sign that labor is about to begin. Most women go into labor within 24-48 hours. The amount of spotting is very small. If it exceeds the menstrual volume, you should consider whether there is bleeding in late pregnancy such as placenta previa.

4. When water breaks, a large amount of fluid will flow out of the vagina and cannot be controlled. After water breaks, umbilical cord prolapse is likely to occur, endangering the life of the fetus. Pregnant women should lie flat and go to the hospital immediately.

If the uterus contracts in a regular manner and this regularity continues for a certain period of time, it means that the pregnant woman is about to give birth. We have also provided other phenomena above.

If there are regular and gradually increasing uterine contractions, usually every 5-6 minutes, each lasting 30 seconds or more, accompanied by progressive cervical dilation and descent of the presenting part, this indicates the beginning of labor. At this time, the pregnant woman should go to the hospital to give birth immediately. The other conditions mentioned above are also possible, and I hope they will be helpful to some of us who are having children for the first time. Don't be too nervous and keep a calm mind.
