What is a urine pregnancy test?

All girls will get pregnant. Pregnancy is very hard. You won’t know it unless you experience it yourself. You must be cautious when you are pregnant and pay attention to your diet and medication. There will be many unknown illnesses waiting for pregnant mothers at this time. What is a urine pregnancy test? Let’s take a look at what these are.

A concept

Urine pregnancy test, also known as early pregnancy test, determines whether pregnancy is present by detecting whether the urine contains a certain amount of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Normal non-pregnant women are negative, while pregnant women are positive. Generally, a urine pregnancy test will be positive 35 days after menstruation.

Second principle

This test is detected by early pregnancy test strips. When the male's sperm combines with the female's egg to form a fertilized egg which is implanted in the uterus, a new hormone is produced in the female's body, medically called human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Its physiological function is to maintain pregnancy. This hormone can be detected in urine through early pregnancy test strips 7 to 10 days after conception.

3. Clinical significance

1. A positive reaction will appear after 35 to 40 days of normal pregnancy, and the positive rate is highest between 60 and 90 days of pregnancy, reaching over 98%. It may decrease or be negative after 120 days.

2. In addition to normal pregnancy, ectopic pregnancy, incomplete abortion, choriocarcinoma, malignant hydatidiform mole, teratoma, etc. may also show positive results.

Note: Urine test results can be used as a reference, and HCG levels in the blood should be tested when necessary.

Four points to note

Urine pregnancy tests must use morning urine because morning urine is concentrated and has higher hormone levels. In order to increase the positive rate of the test, you should try to reduce your water intake the night before. It is best to get a container from the hospital laboratory in advance, because it contains preservatives and the urine is not easy to deteriorate. If conditions permit, any wide-mouth bottle can be used, but it needs to be washed and boiled for sterilization or rinsed with boiling water. After collecting about 10 ml of morning urine, send it to the hospital for testing immediately. If the time is delayed too long, it may affect the accuracy of the test. If you have any questions, you can ask doctors, examiners or other medical personnel.

I believe that after reading the above article, everyone will have some understanding of the relevant content of urine pregnancy test, and probably know the preliminary care plan. If you encounter similar situations in the future, you will not panic. You will feel confident when looking at your belly, and you will not be like an ignorant person. It is good to know more medical knowledge, so pregnant mothers should take good care of themselves. Every baby deserves to be cared for.
