Sequelae of episiotomy pain

Many pregnant women choose to give birth naturally, but people often overlook a problem, that is, whether the fetus is suitable. Some friends even encounter others who cannot distinguish during the delivery and have to perform episiotomy. However, the episiotomy wound will be very painful after the operation, which brings great pain. Next, we will introduce how to take care of it.

According to surveys, local tenderness and early postpartum dyspareunia are quite common in patients who have undergone episiotomy. This is caused by the episiotomy wound being sutured too tightly or local wound infiltration.

(1) The most common pain is episiotomy scar pain, especially during sexual intercourse, which can last for several weeks. Treatment may include physical therapy, warm compresses, hot sitz baths, or lubricants.

(2) Pain may be caused by poor suture of the perineum or infection or dehiscence of the wound. This type of pain is not effectively treated with conservative treatment and generally requires additional surgery for correction.

(3) Vulvar scar tenderness is sometimes caused by local neuralgia, which can be treated with corticosteroids and local infiltration anesthesia. If the suture is too tight, vaginal opening dilation or vaginal scar dilation may be performed if necessary.

Above we have learned about the pain of episiotomy wounds. How should we take care of them? In life, we should take timely precautions, especially before giving birth, to do a full-body examination to check whether it is suitable for natural delivery, so as to prevent episiotomy caused by the inability of the fetus to be delivered during the delivery process.
