Methods of testing pregnancy

Methods of testing pregnancy

Pregnancy brings joy to some female friends, but to other female friends, it is indeed a surprise. Therefore, female friends must want to know how to confirm that they are pregnant. Of course, if you want to know whether you are pregnant, the best way is to go to the hospital for a detailed examination. However, sometimes we also need some methods of home examination. We can't go to the hospital for examination at every turn, right?

Is there any way to test for pregnancy at home? In fact, there are not only many methods for self-testing pregnancy at home, but also many methods. Let's take a look at the introduction of pregnancy test methods below.

If they are not completely sure whether they are pregnant, many expectant mothers will choose to test their pregnancy at home. As long as you master the correct method, it can be quite accurate. However, even if you confirm that you are pregnant at home, you must go to the hospital for confirmation.

How to self-test pregnancy

Pregnancy test strips

How to use: Insert the end of the test paper with the arrow into the urine specimen container, take it out and lay it flat after at least 3 seconds, and wait for the result to be displayed within 5 minutes. Note: The depth of the test paper inserted into the urine should not exceed the mark line.

Because the first urine in the morning contains the most HCG, the test results will be more accurate using morning urine.

Improve the accuracy of test strip detection

1. Pay attention to the production date on the packaging box and do not use expired test cards, because chemical agents will become ineffective over time.

2. In order to reduce the chance of inaccurate testing, read the instructions for use of the test card carefully before going to the bathroom for specific operations, and then follow the instructions carefully.

3. If you are not sure about the test results, it is best to call your doctor for consultation and complete the test under the doctor's guidance. For example, if you drink too much water and your urine is diluted, your doctor will tell you whether you need to take the test again. If the test result is positive but subtle, you should assume you are pregnant and go to the doctor for a check-up.

4. If the self-test result is negative and menstruation still does not come after 1 week, you should do the self-test again. If it is not negative, it is best to see a doctor.

5. The most important thing is to trust your body. If your symptoms tell you that you are pregnant or not pregnant, no matter what the self-test results are, you should consider that self-testing may be wrong, and it is best to go to the hospital for a check-up. Symptoms of early pregnancy include: nausea and vomiting, fatigue, frequent urination, breast swelling, picky eating, drowsiness, etc.

Gynecologists point out that when women do self-tests for pregnancy at home without any external guidance, the test results are generally only 50% to 75% accurate. If this test is done in a laboratory in front of a doctor who can ensure that the test strips are working properly and the woman uses the test strips exactly as instructed, the test accuracy may be close to 100%.

How to see

Positive: A red reaction line appears in the test area and the control area.

Negative: Only one red reaction line appears in the control area

Invalid: No red reaction line appears on the test paper, or only one reaction line appears in the detection area, indicating that the test has failed or the test paper is invalid.

The test results displayed after 10 minutes have no clinical significance. In addition, pregnancy test strips from different manufacturers may be different, so it is best to refer to the instructions for specific usage.

Measuring basal body temperature: You can also test whether you are pregnant by measuring your basal body temperature. If the basal body temperature remains in the high temperature phase and does not drop after the high temperature period, it means that you may be pregnant.
