The decline of ovarian function is a natural law. Normal women's ovarian function begins to gradually decline around the age of 45 to 50. In recent years, it has been found that the number of patients with "premature ovarian failure" has increased significantly. In the outpatient clinic, it is often seen that some young white-collar workers around 30 years old show signs of premature ovarian failure. The exact cause of premature ovarian failure is still not very clear, but the more certain factors are immunity, drugs, surgery, infection and other destructive factors. 1. Immune factors: Most immune diseases such as thyroiditis can be combined with premature ovarian failure. 2. Iatrogenic premature ovarian failure. Removal of both or one ovary before the age of 40 may cause dysfunction of the ovaries and other tissues, leading to premature ovarian failure. Therefore, invasive surgical procedures, such as repeated artificial abortions, should be avoided as much as possible. 3. Idiopathic premature ovarian failure. It is a secondary amenorrhea with no clear pathogenic factors and is the most important type of premature ovarian failure. It usually occurs during the childbearing age, and clinically presents with gradual or progressive infrequent menstruation, followed by amenorrhea accompanied by menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes and irritability, and the internal and external reproductive organs are in a state of atrophy. Some young girls have irregular menstruation or even amenorrhea for a long time, but they do not go to the hospital for treatment until they discover they are infertile. If premature ovarian failure is not treated in time and amenorrhea is allowed to occur, the patient will develop symptoms such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease and lipid metabolism disorders. 4. Infection: Viruses such as herpes simplex virus and mumps virus can cause ovarian inflammation or immune ovarian damage leading to premature ovarian failure. 5. As the infertility rate among modern people increases, some women are forced to use ovulation induction methods to increase the chance of pregnancy. However, if this practice is excessive, it will cause great damage to the ovaries. 6. Excessive weight loss leads to a sharp decrease in body fat. When the fat ratio is too low, it will affect the level of estrogen in the body. Because the main raw material for synthesizing estrogen is fat, insufficient body fat will lead to insufficient estrogen formation. The decrease in estrogen will cause menstrual disorders and even amenorrhea. Abnormal amenorrhea will inhibit the ovulation function of the ovaries, easily causing premature ovarian failure. If not treated in time, it may even cause infertility. Premature ovarian failure will aggravate menstrual disorders, thus forming a vicious cycle. 7. Modern women are in fierce competition. Due to excessive mental pressure, it will cause autonomic nervous system dysfunction in the long run, affecting the endocrine regulation of the human body, resulting in premature decline of ovarian function, reduced estrogen secretion, and early onset of menopause. 8. Bad habits such as smoking and drinking can also lead to premature ovarian failure, because the nicotine in cigarettes and the alcohol in wine interfere with normal menstruation and cause menstrual disorders. If amenorrhea lasts for more than half a year before the age of 40 and occurs at least twice (with at least one month between them), laboratory tests should be combined to be highly alert to the occurrence of premature ovarian failure. The causes of premature ovarian failure are complex, and treatment is mainly symptomatic. Early diagnosis and treatment can significantly improve the prognosis. Never put your hope on ovarian maintenance in a beauty salon. Some patients who have already given birth believe that menopause is not a bad thing. At least it reduces a lot of trouble every month and they don’t have to worry about getting pregnant during sexual intercourse. This is ignorant thinking. Because the ovaries are not only organs that provide reproductive functions for women, the estrogen and progesterone they secrete also directly or indirectly support the physiological functions of multiple systems throughout the body. When the human body lacks estrogen and progesterone, metabolism becomes disrupted, especially bone metabolism is unbalanced, causing accelerated calcium loss. This not only puts women at risk of osteoporosis, but also increases the chances of developing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. When estrogen and progesterone are deficient and affect the function of the autonomic nervous system, women may also experience symptoms of menopausal syndrome such as hot flashes, sweating, and emotional instability, and severe cases may develop into depression. Some women also experience symptoms of premature degeneration of female characteristics, such as lack of elasticity of skin and mucous membranes, breast atrophy, decreased vaginal secretions, and vulvar atrophy. Therefore, patients with premature ovarian failure should seek medical treatment in a timely manner. Once diagnosed, they should actively cooperate with the doctor and adhere to correct treatment. In some serious cases, even if the normal function of the ovaries cannot be completely restored, the above-mentioned adverse effects can be reduced to the lowest level. So far, no clear relationship has been found between premature ovarian failure and ovarian cancer. |
