What is BV positive?

Some women went to the hospital to check their secretions when they felt discomfort in their lower body, and found that BV was positive on the medical record. I don't understand what it means. Worry about whether you have a sexually transmitted disease or something. Very frightened. So, what does a positive BV test mean? What are the diagnostic criteria for a positive BV test? What are the causes of BV and how to treat it? If you want to master it, read on again.

BV is the abbreviation of bacterial vaginitis. A positive test indicates that you have bacterial vaginitis. Immediate medical attention is required.

1. Symptoms of bacterial vaginitis

In patients with bacterial vaginitis, the vaginal discharge is yellowish, mostly khaki, milky white or yellow-brown. And it will increase significantly, the material will appear thinner or thin and viscous. And it has a unique fishy smell. The odor will intensify during or after your menstrual period. The patient may experience vulvar itching. There is no fixed time, but the itching will become more obvious when resting and when you are nervous. There are also varying degrees of external burning sensation, and some patients experience pain during sexual intercourse. Very few patients experience lower abdominal distension and pain, difficulty in sexual life, and abnormal urination. There is no obvious hematoma in the vaginal mucosal epithelium at the onset of the disease.

The disease can often be combined with other vaginal genital tract infections, and the clinical symptoms may vary due to the influence of complications. For example, when combined with Chlamydia infection, female secretions may show obvious purulent properties, and urethral irritation symptoms such as urinary pain and difficulty urinating may occur; when combined with Trichomonas infection, sticky female secretions may appear, and the itching may increase, and it may be pruritus; when combined with Trichomonas infection, female secretions may appear as thin watery or tofu-like leucorrhea.

2. Diagnostic criteria for bacterial vaginitis

1. Female secretions are grayish white, very thick, even sticky like dough, uniform and consistent, but not purulent secretions, and the amount is uncertain.

2. The secretions have a fishy smell, which is more severe during sexual intercourse or after activities. Since the amine content in the patient's secretions is very high, adding 10% ferric chloride solution can also release the amine smell.

3. The pH value in female secretions is increased, ranging from 5.0-5.5, while that of ordinary people is 4.5-4.7.

4. Gardnerella can be detected in wet acid-fast staining of female secretions.

Of the four criteria, those who meet three or more can be diagnosed, and the fourth is an essential diagnostic criterion.

3. Causes of bacterial vaginitis

1. Use dirty handkerchiefs, cotton towels, or indirectly contact toilet seats in public toilets that are infected with germs. There is also a bathtub and a chair in the bathroom. May cause infection.

2. Sexual transmission is one of the causes of the disease. Among women with symptoms, at least 10% of men have bacterial urethritis.

3. Taking antibiotics in large quantities changes the microenvironment in the vagina, causing pathogenic bacteria to multiply, resulting in local bacterial vaginitis.

4. Too much attention to hygiene. In order to maintain hygiene, some women often use medicinal lotions to irrigate the vagina, which can easily destroy the acid and alkali environment in the vagina and easily cause bacterial vaginitis.

4. How to treat bacterial vaginitis

1. General treatment: Keep the vulva clean and dry, and avoid scratching. Do not take spicy food or stimulating food. Change your underwear frequently and wash it with warm water. Do not mix it with other clothes to prevent cross infection.

2. Medication

(1) Ornidazole is currently considered to have reliable effects, taken twice a day for 7 consecutive days.

(2) Use metoprolol (clomiphene) for 3 days.

(3) Thiamphenicol (Thiomycin) is effective against a variety of Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, and has excellent efficacy against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, so it can also be used.

(4) Cleansing and ampicillin Cleansing and ampicillin can also be used. In recent years, it has been considered that no treatment is needed for those without symptoms.

3. Some treatments can be treated with topical medications, such as metronidazole suppositories, once a day at night for 7 days.

4. If other pathogens are detected during treatment of complications, take medication for other pathogens to avoid drug abuse. Pay attention to the overall condition when taking medication, support and immunotherapy can be given at the same time, and pay attention to the side effects of drugs.

5. Treatment of sexual partners Sexual partners should be treated separately.

Summary: BV is a bacterial infection of vaginitis, not a sexually transmitted disease. It is a gynecological disease that many women suffer from. Female friends don’t need to be too anxious. Just cooperate closely with the treatment and pay attention to cleanliness. Wash your underwear frequently. Don't eat spicy food ingredients. Daily life routine. It will heal quickly.
