How to use enema after episiotomy

How to use enema after episiotomy

Everyone needs to correct their understanding of choosing natural childbirth. It does not mean that choosing natural childbirth means forcing the pregnant woman to give birth to a baby. In fact, this will cause great harm to the pregnant woman. In order to help pregnant women give birth more successfully and prevent the vagina from relaxing too much, an episiotomy will be performed during the delivery process. Although the wound is not large, it will take some time to heal. So, how long does it take to defecate normally after giving birth? Can't get an enema for the first time after giving birth? How should pregnant women with episiotomy use enema?

How to use enema for episiotomy wound during pregnancy

Pregnant women who have undergone episiotomy can use enema. When using a suppository, try not to touch the episiotomy wound. After defecation, you must pay attention to the hygiene of the anus and vulva. In addition, it is not recommended to use enema frequently because it may cause dependence. It is recommended that pregnant women should eat more vegetables and fruits after giving birth to avoid constipation, do moderate exercise, avoid eating spicy food and irritating ingredients, and encourage drinking more water after giving birth. Eating bananas, apples, and dragon fruit after giving birth can help with bowel movements.

How long does it take to have a normal bowel movement after giving birth?

After giving birth, the episiotomy wound usually has its stitches removed in about five days, and if it is fully healed, it will take about ten days. After the stitches are removed, be careful not to use too much force when defecating to prevent the wound from tearing. In addition, pay attention to the cleanliness of the vulva. Use iodine disinfectant or gynecological wash to clean the vulva after going to the toilet. When resting, be sure to lie on your right side to prevent postpartum lochia from flowing to the left perineal incision wound and causing infection. The wound is prone to pain after episiotomy, and infrared irradiation can be used to relieve the pain.

How long it takes to regain bowel movements after giving birth is the same as before the birth of the baby. For pregnant women who have bowel movements every day, if they do not have a bowel movement for 2-3 days after giving birth, they are very likely to suffer from constipation and difficulty in defecation. It usually takes 2 to 3 days after giving birth to defecate. If it exceeds 4 days and the pregnant woman has not defecate, it is recommended to adjust the diet. You can eat more vegetables and fresh fruits, such as bananas, apples, dragon fruit, etc., which have the effect of promoting digestion. For pregnant women who still cannot defecate after adjusting their diet, it is recommended to use enema or take lactulose orally to help defecation.

Pregnant women after giving birth, whether they choose natural birth or caesarean section, must go through the whole process of confinement period recovery. The normal confinement period is six weeks. After giving birth, the episiotomy wound must be repaired after the confinement period before sexual intercourse can be had. Pregnant women should go to the hospital for basic follow-up six weeks after giving birth, and have a full physical examination and gynecological examination. Understand whether the genitals in the pelvis have recovered to a non-pregnant state. At the same time, you should take your baby to the hospital for a comprehensive examination. 42 days after giving birth, if the whole body physical examination is normal, you can have normal sex and use contraceptive methods. Breastfeeding women can use special tools for contraception, and those who do not breastfeed can use drug contraception.
