Where is the female uterus located?

The position of the female cervix is that when standing up, the cervix remains above the plane of the ischial spine. The cervix can be divided into the subvaginal position and the intravaginal position. The cervix is very important for the reproductive function of women. The uterus is where the fetus eats, lives and lives before birth, so the location of the uterus is very important. If the uterus moves, the growth and development of the fetus will become more and more difficult. But many women don't know where the uterus is located. So where is the uterus located?

The uterus is located in the middle of the pelvis, between the bladder and duodenum. Its location may change with the level or position of the bladder and duodenum. When standing, the uterus is almost parallel to the plane, the fundus of the uterus lies on the upper and rear side of the bladder, and the cervix remains above the plane of the ischial spines. The normal uterus of an adult is in a slightly protruded and flexed posture. Protrusion means that the axis of the uterus and the axis of the vagina are open forward, and flexion means the bend between the uterine body and the cervix.

The normal position of the uterus is mainly maintained by structures such as the uterine cruciate ligaments, pelvic diaphragm, urogenital diaphragm and perineal tendon. When these structures are damaged or relaxed, uterine prolapse may occur. The uterus can be divided into four parts: the base, body, isthmus, and neck. The upper part with a blunt round protrusion, located above the cervical opening of the fallopian tubes on both sides, is the base; the lower part with a narrow and cylindrical shape is the neck, which is a frequent site of inflammation and cancer. The cervix is further divided into the upper end of the vagina and the inside of the vagina. The part between the bottom and the neck is the body; the narrow part between the lower part of the body and the neck is the isthmus. The uterine isthmus gradually expands with the pregnancy, and the lower part of the uterus is obviously formed during delivery. Obstetricians often perform cesarean section to extract the fetus here.

The junction of the upper ends of the two edges of the uterus and the bilateral fallopian tubes is called the uterine angle. The front of the uterus is separated from the bladder by the uterine pouch and is close to the upper bladder. The front of the upper end of the cervix and vagina is close to the lower end of the bladder through the bladder-vaginal septum. The inside of the cervix and vagina is close to the urethral opening through the urethrovaginal septum. The back of the uterus is close to the duodenum through the duodenal pouch and duodeno-vaginal septum.

The uterus is located in the center of the pelvis, between the bladder and duodenum. The uterus of a normal adult non-pregnant woman is in an extended and flexed position. The main positioning device of the uterus is the support of the pelvic diaphragm and vagina and the traction of the cruciate ligament. The four pairs of cruciate ligaments are the broad cruciate ligament of the uterus, the round ligament of the uterus, the cardinal cruciate ligament of the uterus, and the sacro-uterine ligaments.

The uterus is in the shape of an inverted flat pear, flat in the front and slightly protruding in the back, with wide walls and a small cavity. The top is wide and mineral-rich, facing forward and upward; the bottom is narrow and cylindrical, inserted into the upper end of the vagina. The average length, width, and thickness of the uterus of an adult woman are 7×5×3 cm respectively, and the uterine volume is about 5 ml.
