How to judge whether the milk is enough for the baby

How to judge whether the milk is enough for the baby

Nowadays, exclusive breastfeeding is advocated, and most mothers also wish their children to be breastfed. Because breast milk is not only rich in nutrients, but also can transport antigens to the child, reducing the child's chance of getting sick. After a woman gives birth, she needs to breastfeed her baby within thirty minutes, which can promote milk secretion. So, how do you determine if you have enough milk?

1. Urination: When the milk supply is sufficient, the child can eat enough every day. At this time, the baby will wet 4-6 diapers a day. And the urine is clear or very light in color. If the urine is darker in color, it means that the child is not getting enough breast milk.

2. Defecation: If the mother has enough breast milk, the baby under one month old will defecate more than 3 times a day. After the baby is one month old, the baby's intestines and stomach will have a certain growth and development, and the child's bowel movement is generally once a day.

3. Feeding: Generally, after the mother breastfeeds, the breasts will be softer than before breastfeeding, and the difference in softness will gradually decrease as the baby grows, and eventually the supply and demand will be balanced. If the mother has enough breast milk, milk letdown will occur while breastfeeding. When the milk comes, the mother will feel it and can also observe the baby's performance.

4. Weight: If the newborn's weight can increase normally and meet the growth standards, without a slightly lower weight or stagnant weight, it means that the baby is getting enough milk.

If you don't get enough breast milk, it may just be that you haven't found the right breastfeeding method. You need to continue the running-in period with your baby, and you need external help, including family and professional support. As long as you master the right method and have confidence in yourself, your baby will have enough breast milk. Come on, mothers!
