The process of salpingography

The process of salpingography

Hysterography is an X-ray hysterography that introduces contrast agent into the uterine cavity and bilateral fallopian tubes through a flexible tube, uses an X-ray device to perform X-ray fluoroscopy and film, and determines whether the bilateral fallopian tubes are unobstructed, the location of blockage, and the shape of the uterine cavity based on the state of the contrast agent in the bilateral fallopian tubes and pelvis. [1]

Application scope of angiography

1. Infertility test is used to understand the causes of primary or secondary infertility. It can not only understand whether there are congenital malformations or pathological conditions in the uterus and bilateral fallopian tubes, but also understand whether the bilateral fallopian tubes are smooth, so as to find out the causes of infertility. In some cases, hysterography can help blocked bilateral fallopian tubes become smoother and lead to pregnancy.

2. Abnormal uterine bleeding: Find out the cause of abnormal uterine bleeding, understand the condition of uterine mucosa and uterine cavity, and distinguish whether abnormal bleeding is caused by uterine polyps or cervical fibroids.

3. If you want to recanalize the fallopian tubes after ligation surgery, you must understand the status of both fallopian tubes in the uterus to decide whether surgery is possible.

4. Tumor observation: uterine fibroids, adnexal tumors and other pelvic visceral organs affecting the bilateral fallopian tubes of the uterus.

5. Malformation diagnosis: Uterine malformations such as bicornuate uterus, uterine septate, etc.

6. Foreign body confirmed metal IUD disorder.

7. Adhesions include intrauterine adhesions, cervical adhesions, etc.

Optimal time for angiography

The best time to choose for imaging is generally 3 to 7 days after the menstrual period ends. However, if your menstrual cycle is not very regular and there is a missed period, you can delay it until 10 days after the menstrual period ends. For those patients with very irregular menstrual cycles or even amenorrhea, you can check at any time, but the premise is to eliminate the possibility of pregnancy as much as possible.

Angiography examination method

Before the angiography examination, please clean the toilet and disinfect the private parts, vagina and cervix. Under the principle of aseptic operation, 7 to 10 ml of contrast agent is drawn out, because the tube must hold 2 ml and the uterine cavity can hold about 3 to 5 ml. Insert the metal tube or double-lumen tube into the cervix and tighten it. Expel the bubbles in the tube to avoid misdiagnosis as cysts or uterine fibroids. Introduce the tube under fluoroscopy and observe until the uterus and both fallopian tubes are filled, and then take a film; or slowly introduce the tube without fluoroscopy, and take a line film until the patient's lower abdomen is bloated. If there is a significant sense of frictional resistance or the patient feels pain or discomfort during introduction, the injection should be stopped. The total introduction volume is about 5-10mi. If iodine powder is introduced, take 2 pieces in succession, 10 to 15 minutes apart. If iodine degreasing agent is introduced, after the first piece is washed out and observed, consider taking the second piece as appropriate. After 24 hours, clean the vagina to remove any iodine that may remain in the female vagina, and then take a pelvic X-ray. If both fallopian tubes are smooth, there will be no degreaser residue in both fallopian tubes, the degreaser that enters the pelvis and abdomen will appear as a smear-like image, the residue in the uterus will appear as a vertical strip-like image, the female vagina will appear as a wild strip-like image, and the residue at the ends of the fallopian tubes will appear as a sausage-shaped image.
