Precautions for women to take chest X-rays

Lung CT examination is an indispensable examination item in our usual hospital physical examination and routine physical examination. Today I will talk about the things that need to be paid attention to and followed during lung CT examination. (According to the standards set by the International Federation of Radiological Protection, the total risk of radiation sources is 0.0165/Sievert, while an X-ray lung CT scan takes less than half a second, with an exposure of about 0.045 millisieverts/second (1 sievert = 1000 millisieverts), so the risk to human health is very limited)

Frequently asked questions about chest X-rays for women:

When women take chest X-rays, they should first pay attention to removing necklaces, pendants, bras, and accessories on their clothes. These items not only affect the quality of the film and violate the radiological quality control regulations, but also have a certain impact on the diagnosis. There is one special thing women should pay attention to when taking chest X-rays, that is, some women have large breasts, which increases the thickness of the chest. When taking the film, the tube voltage should be increased appropriately to make it easier for radiation to penetrate. If necessary, try to push the breasts outward to avoid overlap with the lung fields.

Common problems when going to the hospital for a lung CT scan:

You can eat and drink during the lung CT scan. It is best to wear a clean cotton T-shirt with no buttons, zippers or other decorations on the front, back, or sides of the clothes. Do not wear necklaces, pendants, vermilion sand bags or other ornaments made of any material. (Women wear bras without hooks and loops)

Wait for inspection in the inspection waiting area. Do not walk around or wait in the examination room. (Prevent unnecessary electromagnetic wave radiation)

After entering the diagnosis room, follow the doctor's instructions (breathing training), put your chest close to the tablet, put the backs of your hands on your ilium, relax your shoulders, rotate your arms inward (open your clavicle), tilt your head back slightly, and place your chin on the upper edge of the tablet. When you hear the reminder, breathe in hard and hold your breath.

Frequently asked questions
